Anyone here ever see a video 2000 machine? I remember finding a stack of like 5 or six movies next to the beta section at the video store back in the day and being like what the gently caress does this thing even play in.

LOL I didn't document a single damned thing as was my standard way of doing things. What I said in my previous post is about it. Just HDDs mounted on a frame of scrap steel I welded up, with a standard camera tripod top hacked onto it. HDDs were powered by a shoulder slung 12VDC Sealed Lead Acid battery. Wiring was custom, can't remember what I did about speed of drives though, but I do remember shock sensing SMT components were removed along with the heads internally.

Form factor is probably not the right word, but please don't correct my English as I do not respect this language

How hard would it be to put a small rechargeable battery in there so you don't have to crank the whole time? I'm assuming you could grab a li-on with a charging circuit with the right voltage and wire it in, yeah?

Also batteries, of any chemistry, do have a shelf life. That thing looks robust enough to last for decades with occasional maintenance (which will be much easier thanks to the parts kit and the local-language teardown/troubleshooting guide). Besides, it does have a DC socket for an external battery pack (which might also power other devices), and I'm sure rechargeable varieties of those packs exist. I'm not a fan of this kind of proselytizing effort, but whoever designed that player had their head screwed on straight, engineering-wise.
