To actually talk about the gyaru show for a second, I read the manga and I think it might be one of the worst hot gyaru dates loser nerd stories I've seen? Like, the most rote romance beats imaginable, no real character development for either party, and it's all-in on the "we shouldn't do sex stuff because you should treasure yourself" thing in a way that feels even more gross and patronising than it usually does?

Arknights: Perish in Frost is about a guy's adopted daughter perishing in frost instead.

Kaiju 8 is a pretty good battle spectacle with story, setting and characters that start out as interesting, but end up being thoroughly wasted, so its best bet is probably getting Demon Slayer'ed.

Honestly I'm not as disappointed with the temporary deaging as I am with them literally copy/pasting the transformation from GoGo (complete with Nozomi suddenly being back in her school uniform)

All that said the fight itself was pretty decent at least (one of the advantages of not having to kowtow to parents in regards to violence I guess)

One day we'll get a post-magical-girl series about adult women transforming into frilly outfitted warriors, without that being the punchline to a joke. That day is not this day, sadly.

Spec Ops Asuka was about teenagers anyway.

Weirdly enough, Magical Girl Raising Project, despite the standard 14-year-old heroine, had magical girls of all ages. It didn't really make much use of this, though, because, even more than Spec Ops Asuka, it just wasn't very good; the adult characters' lack of emotional maturity stretched credibility a bit, frankly. (It did have a reveal that one of the magical girls was significantly younger than the heroine, in an attempt to justify the younger girl's unusual psychology, but that stretched credibility even more.)

While it was also a joke and a very minor character, Miss Kuroitsu From the Monster Department had a grown up magical girl who was still very visibly an adult (though slightly younger/prettied up) when she transformed. It also played that kind of straight, but had clear love and respect for said character (and everyone else in that scene, and all the genres it spoofed) because Miss Kuroitsu rules and you should watch it.

It also had a Magical Girl duo as major characters, one of whom happened to be a boy who became a girl. One of the plots in an episode had the two of them transforming and then changing clothes to attempt to infiltrate a villain organization and it was very good. No really, watch Miss Kuroitsu. The best spoofs come from a place of love and there's nothing that shows love as much as the parade of goofy, real life, Z-List UHF Tokusatsu superheroes they spotlighted.

paradox looks a lot better visually, and ive heard some of the music and it seems better than hypmic's, but the premier definitely didnt impress me. i gotta catch up tho
