These Carr struggles remind me of the Broncos in a particular way. When a QB refuses to gamble by throwing a ball into one on one coverage, it neutralizes any contested-catch ability by the receivers. It's fine with guys like Hunter Renfrow or Davante Adams that are great at running routes to get open but if guys are down the field, they just get ignored. It's why Courtland Sutton looked better with Drew Lock than with Russ - Lock would just chuck it a few times a game and Sutton came down with some of them whereas Russ would rather scramble fruitlessly.
