I'm not gonna defend Apartheid, but I get the impression that the Israeli occupation is more dedicated to killing than South African Apartheid was, at least towards the end. I'm opening my copy of History of South Africa by Thula Simpson here and reading through the 1985-1990 section. It says that there were massive countrywide strikes at that point, and a state of emergency as local communities rejected the Apartheid government involvement and started self organising their own communities and setting up revolutionary councils. The attacks by uMkhonto we Sizwe members were done by like 50 people who were trained by the USSR, if I'm reading this correctly. The police would routinely break up protests and strikes with lethal force, killing dozens and injuring hundreds per incident. So much of the resistance was more nationwide resistance via labour actions. As far as I can tell most of the killings by black people happened not because they were targeting white settlers, but suspected (black and coloured) informants. I know that donation chat has come up before, but I wanted to see if there's anything out there besides the Red Crescent that's actually operating inside. The Red Crescent's donation page seems to be completely borked; I haven't been able to get it to work on a couple of browsers. I give to DWB, but I'd love to find something that's specifically for Palestine so that I know all of my money is going there.
