I have no idea what the quoted incel writer meant by that, but out of context it's not wrong, a big part of transphobic rhetoric is that gender (specifically the idea of gender being separate from sex) is a made up concept. That is the origin of terms like gender critical.

I'm not the most fond of the back half of the video, both a) because as was mentioned, it does just drop spoilers for the finale of Inside Mari outside of the marked off "skip this" segment, which is a bit of a downer when I was very intrigued by the mystery aspect teased and was thinking of grabbing a copy, and b) while I'm ten minutes from the end right now, I feel like it's gone completely off the rails from the actual thesis of the video and I'm just watching the creator involve me in a therapy session? I'm growing increasingly doubtful we're going to loop back to the actual topic.

Yeah, the twisted logic train goes: gender and gender roles are fake and made up, therefore all that matters is biology, therefore a woman is only someone with these specific physical characteristics and men are these other kinds. This is why there's so much transphobic rhetoric about being able to conceive and whatnot, it's what they've reduced the concept of woman down to because they don't have anything else to go off of.

Themes of it tie into the overall thesis but it's much more about how the author explicitly wishes to be a girl in one of the afterwards but doesn't feel like it's possible for him to be trans. The creator's own life story does a good job elucidating how a similar attitude hosed her up mentally for years before she reframed how she looked at it. Overall it maybe could have used a few editing swipes but I really liked it still and related a lot to her issues pretransition.

I know that if you are british and a retro gaming dork, you've probably heard of SQIJ and have watched the Ashens presentation on it and the Kimble Justice vid on it, which is easily the worst game for the ZX Spectrum. Nostalgia Nerd did the nearly impossible task of trying to give it a nicer spin to it..

It was cheeky enough when he started doing "GBR Thrifts" (not least because we don't even CALL it thrifting over here) but this clickbait stuff is just exhausting. Also barely anyone *HATED* SQIJ, because budget games on tape cost like £1 or £2, so you a) could buy a new game every week or so even when you were a kid and your only income was pocket money and b) were conditioned to expect every second or third game to be poo poo anyway.

I might've liked the video to not downplay the reveals that the game has (one of the best one is used in the intro and then not really revealed in its true nature, which is a shame, as even just hearing that line gave me chills). Then again, just recounting the 6th mission of Silent Threat: Reborn also gave me chills, so it's not even as bad as I'm making it seem. It's just a damned shame that Volition are officially completely dead, despite working on at least a few unannounced titles by the time they got killed - one of those titles could've been FreeSpace 3. In conclusion: Everyone should play FreeSpace 2.
