That's scary, to not be doing anything wrong and still have the knee pop.

Got a free nosejob yesterday.

My nose caught a white belt knee to it and it corrected my 3mm deviated septum to a 1mm deviated septum after I reset it.

The doctor was very confused that I would reset it myself and why I came to the primary care doc and not an ER.

Had my first scary knee pop yesterday.

Had my opponent in lasso, he passes away from the lasso, so I thought I was gonna get an easy as pie sweep. I tilt my lasso knee down and me and my partner heard a huge pop in the knee, loud enough that my partner got super worried that my knee exploded. I just rolled playing bottom defence the rest of the night, didnt really hurt unless I tried to bridge with that leg as a kickstand. Knees swollen and im getting small amount of pain and intermittent weakness if I walk around on it. Stupid thing is, we werent being dynamic with it, I had the angle where all I needed to do was tilt the knee slightly and he would have flown away from me and ive done the move a million times.

Probably go to urgent care if it doesnt feel better by friday see if they can give me a steroid or tell me I really should go to the ortho.

Edit: just looked up knee subluxion :stonk:

I'm not a medical professional, but this sounds unfortunately similar to pretty much every *CL tear I've ever heard of. :-/ If anyone at your gym happens to be a doctor or any kind of orthopedic specialist, there's a few simple tests they can do to determine if you've torn anything. Although asking your teammates for medical advice/care would normally be a little rude or presumptuous, IMO, these procedures are about as complicated as changing a light bulb and they don't require any special equipment.

rolling injuries may hurt a lot of people, but they also help some people with their deviated septums, so, it;s impossible to say if theyre bad or not,

(Defenestrategy, having both immediate and persistent knee pain is a strong sign you should probably get your knee looked at ASAP, good luck goon)

It popped really loud and I cringed and told my partner get off me and go get the coach incase I was about to be in the worst pain of my life. It didnt get so bad, and I assumed a ligament tear would be like an eight or nine on the pain scale. Ill get it checked later today to be on the safe side though, my insurance is pretty decce and at the very least I might get a steroid shot out of the deal even if nothing is catastrophically wrong.

Haha, my friends and i wanted to, but after getting a blood test, im still producing like a young man at 38. 900ng/L total 150.3 pg/ml free. The secret is poor sleep and bad diet.

Really highlights my wasted potential though….

I don't, but I know a few people who do. It can certainly help, but there's probably some low-hanging fruit to be had for most people between their sleep, diet, S&C, rehab, etc. before they start looking into chemical enhancement. Learning how to choose your partners carefully and roll at a sustainable pace is another necessary skill for maximizing your training volume that most people take a while to learn (if ever).

Trip report, urgent care poked and proded said it was inconclusive, took xrays and didn't see any bone fractures, told me to go follow up with an ortho with an MRI. They did compliment my vascularity and my ability to feel below my knee, so what ever it is doesn't require the ER.

TRT is certainly tempting, but I'm telling myself just seeing what I can achieve without it is good enough. I don't really like exercise or strength training outside of bjj so it would likely be a waste of AU $3-4k

Not a doctor but ligament damage is not going to show up in an X-ray so definitely get a MRI if you are able to. When I had my ACL tear, the doctor setup an X-ray as a formality to make sure there wasn't bone damage but mentioned the MRI was necessary for assessing ligament damage.

A one stripe white belt actually has half an idea of what they need to be doing, and that really, genuinely is a big improvement over new people who might literally not know where to go or what to do when, say, put in mount. It's the most impactful stripe you'll ever get, so sincere congratulations.

Edit: another neat metric is, once you have one or maybe two stripes on your white belt, you can probably beat up any untrained person with your physicality ie: anyone who's not way bigger or in way better shape. So if you're a big dude, congratulations you're now a tough guy. If you're not, it'll just take longer.

Appreciate it ya'll. All sarcasm aside, I've definitely learned a lot about the basics of just trying to protect myself, not letting limbs flail around giving people free range to obliterate me, along with not easily ending up on my back. But I definitely find myself going "okay, I'm in this position... i have absolutely no idea where to go from here". Either way, this stuff is addictive and I'm eager to continue this journey.

edit: I have no intentions of trying this stuff out in real life, I am not a big dude, and all previous sports of mine have been cardio focused... Maybe I can just tire out all my agressors by challenging em to a 10K before they rob me?

You dont get gains by doing the shaka, the shaka comes from gains, because your fingers are so hosed up from grabbing peoples jackets that you cant properly close your hand when giving a thumbs up.

Yo, I'm studying for my next Judo belt and they want to know the Japanese term for shoes??? Never in my life have I heard about having to know this. Does anyone know? It's not cheating for you to tell me, they gave me the test to study and they'd tell me if I was there. Google says...kutsu? I'm filling out a photo copy to hang on the wall at work, I'll just leave it blank if no one is sure.
