None of this matters
A few of my friends/acquaintances who's on T told me that it's not just the T, but also the ratio between the various hormones at play. You definitely need to speak to an endocrinologist for a proper diagnosis before doing anything (one guy had to beg his family doc for a referral though). And once you're on it, you are on it for life. I believe taking it crashes your own production, that first guy went from using a creme, to needing injections, eek.

But for all of those that got a proper diagnosis and are on TRT or whatever they call it are extremely happy with the results and say that it feels like a fog has lifted from their lives.

Tip I've heard about T injections, it usually comes with a huge needle to get it out of the bottle, and the medicine itself is really viscous/thick, but swap the needle out to something a bit smaller before doing the injection. Makes it less of a pain in the rear end.

this is how we do it with E injections. use a bigger needle to draw, that way the smaller less painful needle is also not dulled by punching through the cap.

trust me, its a noticeable difference

Devour a good book.

T can be injected subcutaneously with insulin syringes. My doc had me, and presumably other trans guys, do the switch back in...2016, I wanna say. There can be psychological hesitation to injecting in the abdomen but it hurts way less.

This does not make sense when, again, aggregate indicia also indicate improvements. The belief that things are worse is false. It remains false.

So I am vitamin deficient, especially in B and D. I got a blood test for the first time in a long time and the doctor was definitely concerned about it. I got a B-12 injection right then and he prescribed a ton of vitamins - B complex, D, daily multivitamin, and magnesium. However, this should be turning around somewhat, as I've been taking these daily for about a month now.

A bit off-topic and medical, but is your doc planning on investigating the B12 deficiency at all? Being low on D is very common but unless you're a vegan/strict vegetarian low B12 can indicate some problems with absorption. Worth at least a chat, especially if you've had any gut symptoms.

Hey guys is this the place to ask about a pregnancy scare?

Had protection break roughly 2.5 to 3 weeks ago and my girlfriend is now 4-5 days late. Took a negative pregnancy test around 1pm today, not with the first pee of the day. She also pees like every hour or so, even at night. She doesn't pound water all day so I'm assuming she just has a baby bladder and the samples aren't getting diluted.

How much can I rely on that negative? Haven't had this happen in 16 years and it's not my body/choice so I'm worrying about my genes being passed on.

Go to the doctor if you can afford it for a proper check, store bought pregnancy tests can be dodgy sometimes

We had a woman come into the hospital about to give birth and all the pregnancy tests she took over the past 9 months were negative.

If her missed period dates are accurate the percent accuracy should be in the high 90s.

In reality, period dates are often a bit flexible and she didn't technically follow the instructions on the test so that might diminish it a bit. The easiest thing to do is to just take another in a day or two and keep doing that until either they turn positive or the missed period arrives.

If it helps accuracy should be very good once you get beyond 21 days after the unprotected sex.

There's really no reason to hit up a doctor unless you're crippled with anxiety, the blood test might be able to detect pregnancy earlier but in your situation it's a difference of a few days at best since you're practically at the 'urine test is extremely accurate' stage.

Yeah, the procedure itself takes like 20 minutes. I didn't love it, but the Valium they gave me helped.

Afterwards, it was pretty uncomfortable for like 2-3 days at most, and for a week or 10 days I wore a jockstrap. I highly recommend getting a few jockstraps if you don't already have them. They gave me a script for tramadol that I never ended up filling, I just took OTC extra strength Tylenol and iced.

Thanks goons. I was pretty up in the air about having kids someday until this happened and even though it wasn't that close of a call it scared the poo poo out of me. I think my feelings about kids are shifting to where I'd rather risk a lengthy undo-procedure after changing my mind later than risk a pregnancy happening before then.

Got some stuff to think about, I'll be reading the snip thread in the meantime.

It's not as reversible as people think it is, that's one drawback. You can always freeze sperm, or if you change your mind later, they can extract sperm directly from the testes. My understanding is that the reversal is much more invasive than the original procedure, and doesn't have as high a success rate.

Freezer method it is then, getting an extraction sounds more scary than getting cut.

I’ll admit that I figured sperm extraction from the testes was roughly as invasive as procedure as a blood draw, and therefore not a really big deal, but I will also admit that I haven’t looked into it at all.

Don't get a vasectomy if you think you might want kids in the future.

While it's possible for some people to have a reversal, it's a more involved procedure and the more surgery in the same area the higher risk of complications. Plus it's not uncommon to develop antibodies against your own sperm, adding an additional problem. Freezing sperm or extracting it directly might be workarounds, but is your future partner prepared to go through artificial insemination/IVF to have a kid with you? And the expense?

So by all means get the snip, but go in with the mindset that it's permanent. If you just have pregnancy anxiety and want peace of mind there are better ways.

It varies from a needle in the epididymus to full-on knocking you out and cutting out a piece of testicle, depending on whether the problem is just a blockage or the aforementioned antibodies/something else.

Going to echo you need to treat this as irreversible.

It’s serious enough that my state has a 45 day waiting period between the consent and procedure date, and both no one is allowed in the room with you when you sign.

If you’re really unsure, don’t. I was 1000% sure.
