They have the same problem that the Saints have; they're looking at the division and going "hey, we can still make the playoffs" while trying to pretend that their window isn't about to slam shut. Even if Evans was willing to be traded (last I heard he wanted to stay a Buc), I don't think they'll be willing to do so unless they get some crazy offer from another team, and probably not even then. They'll hold onto Evans past the deadline and ride out a season that'll at best end in a first-round exit

I don’t actually think the Bucs have the same problem as the Saints. Like they’re explicitly taking the cap hits this year to clean up the books going forward. They’ve gotten a lot younger overall. That said I wonder if they’re trying to keep Evans to help break in a new rookie qb next year or if they’re just trying to not be embarrassingly terrible this year so they want to keep some of the franchise favorites around.

Tommy falls off the books this year and they’ll have a ton more cap to work with in 2024, most of any team in the NFCS. (+62m) They’ll have the ability to build with better pieces but the coaching tells me it won’t get them anywhere

They will eat that cap space up in a hurry and still won't have a QB so they'll probably have to draft one in the first and start him.
