Remember the original peace prize's motivation.
No?
It was: “for his efforts to achieve peace and international cooperation, and in particular for his decisive initiative to resolve the border conflict with neighbouring Eritrea”

It was the 2019 peace price and Jesus those were pretty rough few years.

People in Eritrea must have mixed feeling about the whole thing. I mean "get a port, get a port" is nice but the people of Tigray aren't going to tunnel to somaliland to get it, are they?

What does this have to do with Tigray? He’s trying to bribe a amhara nationalists with a port, but even they’ve given up on Ethiopia.

I doubt the people of Tigray would happily let the Amahara militia cross their land, armed to the teeth to invade another country, hence the need of magic tunnel to Somiland for that "theorical port" to be located anywhere but Eritrea , that all.
But yes, the whole thing is non-sensical and playing with that kind of nationalist dreams is never gonna backfire. I mean how the people at the Eritrean-Ethiopian frontier are reacting to that kind of talk? Any words from their gov?

BREAKING: On October 13, another shipment of weaponry from Israel landed in Azerbaijan.

Despite the war on its own territory, Israel continues to send military weapons and equipment to Azerbaijan.

Over the past 2 months, Silk Way Airlines-operated aircraft, particularly the Il-76TD with registration 4K-AZ40, has completed four flights. Notably, two of these flights ended in Gandzak (Ganja), near occupied Artsakh. Silk Way Airlines has gained notoriety for its role in transporting weaponry from Israel to Azerbaijan.

The frequent transportation of new weaponry strongly suggests that Azerbaijan is preparing for potential military activities, especially considering Silk Way Airlines' history of transporting arms from Israel to Azerbaijan.

interesting discussion about neocolonialism with a focus on minerals

quote:

Neocolonialism is alive and kicking—kicking-down on the weakest subjects in the international value chain. Africa is still being exploited by the Wests, but several countries are taking back control over their natural wealth. In this talk, Dr. Jonathan Hamisi explains why and how Europe and America have been able to continuously extract much more from Africa than they put back in. The continent is not under-developed but very much over-exploited.

Dr. Jonathan Hamisi, who received his PhD in economic geology and geochemistry earlier this year from Australia’s Monash University. He currently lives in Sweden but he was born and grew up in the Democratic Republic of Congo, studied in Lubumbashi, and he worked in the mining industry for 7 years before going back to academia.

As we all know much of the past 600 years of international relations have been the story of European Colonial exploitation of other regions. The African continent has most egregiously been attacked and plundered, first for its human resources in the slave trade, and later for its mineral wealth either directly through the colonial apparatus or, after the 1960s, through neocolonial practices that allowed for the continued robbery of African wealth.

Fiume implies that at least a subset of the inhabitants would want to be a part of it. Ethiopia is falling apart and this idiotic move is Abiys bid to win over Amhara supremecists /Ethiopian nationalists who are now fighting against him. It won’t work but he’s throwing everything at the wall to see what sticks

Yeah but the baby is a war and i don't think anyone involved will forget the last few years even if they magically go back in time back to war with Eritrea or whoever they want to target this time.

These bridges are being built with the huge technical support of our caring army, the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) and there is a lightning speed in execution.

Some of these rural community bridges were destroyed during the flood disasters and their absence has disconnected communities and made their lives difficult.

This phase of construction work will see the building of 134 rural bridges in the country in the coming months. This will significantly upscale the rural infrastructure development in areas that are poorly serviced with public amenities.
