that singlehandedly makes this the best patch in overwatch history

in other news, in a new episode of "why did they change this", you can no longer look at the match score while the POTG plays.

the best thing about this update is having three customisable cosmetic sets so I can have Designated Spooky Outfits for everyone without having to change everything manually afterwards.

new sombra getting to auto-delete a squishy of choice by walking up behind them and holding right click, pressing shift and left clicking is masterful game design and has made many quick play people feel like they have gained so much skill on a hero with a complex gameplay loop. it's heartwarming

hmm, my comp experience is different. Tons of people that want to play Sombra, but can't seal the deal and can't use the translocator correctly. I play Ana, and all you have to do is be aware of her engage and hopefully have one cooldown on hand. Other supports have been good about looking out for each other too. The best is when you have a Sombra teammate that keeps an eye on the back line.

This is also my QP experience for the most part. Good sombras will delete you, but if you've got one cooldown up you can force them to run, and if you're near your second support you're more than likely to survive.

It gets bad when she goes in with a doomfist.

This is annoying, but a workaround of sorts is that if you start holding the key before the victory poses show up (while either "Victory" or "Defeat" is showing on your screen), you can continue holding the key to keep reading the scoreboard while the POTG plays.

It's too bad that they already did the OW2 thing because the game really needs/needed a major reboot if it ever wants to get any significant amount of its playerbase back but i think the ship sailed on that after the OW2 debacle

Ah, but what if... Overwatch 3: Ov3rwatch?

Overwatch 2 ended when Winston said Overwatch was back, don't you want to see what happens after that??

Featuring a full PvE campaign mode!

There's no quick fix, they just have to revamp the battlepass to not be a ripoff, then build trust with regular content releases. It'll never hit OW1 release hype, but you might get a solid game with a good fanbase out of it again.

EDIT: and by "Regular Content Releases" I don't just mean the seasons and new heroes, I mean story/character focused, Archives-esque content

Not a quick fix, but how about an OW spinoff game. Make it like $20, maybe not full blown 3D (probably stylized 3D or just stick to 2D), and have that be the official lore dump that'll inevitably get either retconned to gently caress or shafted in favor of cookie cutters.

Basically a way to enjoy the setting without playing - or even booting up - Overwatch 2 proper.

If you add up all the cinematic shorts, the total running time is almost two hours. Acting and animation-wise that could have been a movie right there, but they'd still have to come up with a good feature length script, promotion, etc.

- Take new heroes out of the battle pass and just let everyone play the new hero on day 1 of the release.

- Make the battle pass more generous like Rocket League, where players can earn enough coins along the way to buy the next battle pass if they reach the last reward by the end of the season without splurging on anything.

- Give away a lot more freebies in the form of minor cosmetics like titles and title card backgrounds centered around limited events.

- Bring back the voting cards at the end of the match.

- Bring back the LFG feature.

- Make the Experimental mode a regularly updated thing.

- Gradually add features from the limited brawl modes (chests, deployable items, upgrades) back into the PvE story campaign.

- Deadlock Mei skin

If you're in the match, it has started, its time for the penalty. Leaving at the start is just as bad/worse than leaving in the middle or at the end. The result is that you left the match and left the team in a lurch. It sucks to lose/not be able to play until you get that backfill, assuming that you get it quickly, and they ALSO don't bail on the match.

An early bailer can just entirely kill a match.

The back filler will be late to the first team fight, even if they get in before the hero select is over in most cases. Unless they filly nearly instantly.

It can totally take 1-2 minutes, depending on the time of day, game mode, and skill level you're playing at.

Gee, so easily solved by letting us pick what maps we want to play. I'm not rage-quitting, I just don't want to spend 20 minutes playing a boring map. This is 100% a Blizzard problem, not a my-behavior problem.

And for reference, this is in Mystery Heroes/QP, never in competitive or whatever.

Which is shocking considering she's the funnest and coolest character of all.
