Oh my god, JC!
It's unreasonable to expect YouTube to provide its services at a loss, but there's also nothing on YouTube worth watching an ad for. Hopefully the whole site falls into the Myspace-Digg Memorial Hole of Obscurity.

Ah yes, the mistake you've made is in assuming any thought other than the next quarters metrics was put into this.

Like Twitter and Facebook, it's too big to fail now barring astonishing mismanagement. Musk couldn't be trying harder to kill Twitter and still nobody uses Mastodon or Bluesky. Digg and Myspace were early web 2.0, back when millions of college students discovering the internet for the very first time could easily propel a competitor to any established service well past said service.

This is literally impossible now.

TikTok is the only thing to come close, but it never replaced or supplanted anything.

Startups becoming huge isn't a thing that's ever going to happen again. All of their business plans end in "get bought by Apple or Google."

Kay-Tee seems to be a pretty good brand and I really like their Birder's Blend. You can get this at Target, too. It's got some milo, but it's pretty minimal and doesn't bother me.

I use that stuff and throw in a few extra tablespoons of the millet, and that's gold.

Am I and the other person saying "use your loving phone as a remote" invisible?

Why does anyone tolerate collecting a pile of single-use controllers in tyool2023 when almost everyone carries around a general purpose computer in their pocket?

Edit: "Oh poo poo my horse is acting up! Maybe it's angry that it has to share stable space with my Ferrari!"

Because I use my phone for other poo poo and because physical buttons let me do whatever with one hand not looking at anything, let alone having to re-open an app.

I use my phone whenever my fire TV remote dies but I replace that poo poo ASAP

Because I'm tired of having to use my goddamn phone for loving everything all the time and at the end of the day I just want to fling it into a different room and forget about it until tomorrow.

Also physical buttons make more sense to me than having to look at a second screen to change what is happening on the first screen, I tried that poo poo before and it felt silly.

my main tv I use a fireTV cube which has gotten substantially shittier over the last 5 years, now running almost as bad as a fire stick despite being a dedicated $100 set top box.

but at least the remote lets me control all of my poo poo at once, and I can start the TV and receiver both by saying "Alexa TV on" from the kitchen. All for the low low cost of constant audio surveillance

I am very particular about biscuits, I'll have you know.
I think our Walmart is experimenting with making cashiers only accessible with their dumb customer program. Also after redoing the self check out lines and getting ppl out faster the hold up is now the old lady checking your bags on the way out.

In addition they removed two full parking lanes for pickup only so parking is way shittier.

Because specialized devices are more convenient and better adapted to the function they serve, op. Yeah, I could control my lights using a stupid barely functional app, or I could flick a switch, something I can do while entering the room at the added cost of exactly 0.00 seconds. Or I could change the volume on my speaker using yet another app that takes 20 seconds to load, or I could press a physical button. Etc., etc. "smart device" apps can be two things - either a novelty for children, or a cost cutting measure by the manufacturer (for which they are likely to charge you extra).
