I think the Niners must've come out of camp/preseason with a pretty concrete sense that they could win a game(s) with Darnold if necessary or they would've just kept Trey around and kept wishing upon a star that he'd come together. It wouldn't surprise me if Shanny is 100% sincere in thinking Darnold has some late bloomer potential, nothing about those Jets teams looks like a great development environment, and it wouldn't really surprise me if he was fine. Regardless of how he plays (if he plays) I'm still pretty skeptical of the whole QB doesn't matter under Shanahan stuff, what with the six year hunt for a QB he was remotely satisfied with and all. I do think Shanny's great at finding a guy's ceiling but I do think it requires the guy to have a ceiling. If Darnold shows something it'll be because he's capable of something, not just "Shanahan's a magician."

NFL really needs to fix their scheduling. Real cool having to face 2 teams in 3 weeks coming off a bye. And one of them after a Monday game. Nice. Real nice. Just like 2 weeks ago, one team looks rested the other looks slow and tired in comparison. Probably gonna lose again today because of this.

Yeah. It's rare that they look like they are going to lose this early. Last two weeks they looked like they were going to win for most of the games. Even when trailing they looked better. But today they look like rear end about to get blown out. Hopefully Shanahan and Lynch fire Wilks after this. Season is pretty much over at this point but at least they might be able to salvage something.
