I've been long enough without a cat that I was getting sad about it, and the local shelter had a 6yo boy with a heart murmur that I couldn't NOT get  so I got him today!    I think his name is Moose he has already done his first poop in the litterbox with zero issues or prompting, thus cementing his status as The Goodest Boy On Earth.

I'm sure most of you have seen it, but lately theres been a meme going around on facebook that I see every now and then. Dog owners: WE PREPARED FOR MONTHS FOR THIS DAY!! Cat owners: Found him in a dumpster, followed us home. Wouldn't leave.

One of my kitties gets noticeably sad and lethargic in winter, so I bought her one of those SAD lamps.  It seems to help! She's spending a lot more time downstairs hanging with the humans, and tear-assing around the house, not just curled in a ball on the bed 24/7, with occasional food breaks like last winter.

Cats can get SAD, maybe. They originally come from the desert where winter means less sunlight but not to the extent of more temperate climes. Cats can get depressed though so maybe they can also get SAD. You're the first person I've seen do something about it though so maybe that's why theories are mixed.

She LOVES the sun, and will follow sunbeams around the house to bake in, we've always joked a he's our moody teenager because she withdraws and stops being as affectionate in the darker months, we noticed that it corellated to the time of year this Fall, since we were talking about how sweet she was all Summer. None of our other cats, and none of the cats I had growing up seem to really care, we're in the northern tip of the US so the days get pretty dang short. I figured it was worth the $15. E: here she is, diligently protecting us from a much smaller kinda-tuxedo.
