You can also intentionally cook the water out of mushrooms before you bake/fry/whatever, although some people claim it loses some of the flavor (I use this method for what it’s worth): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yEtlkePFIGM

The only time I have ever deliberately washed mushrooms was the time I bought morels and soaked them to release the dirt which they were loaded with

Morels are so good, I miss living somewhere I could go out to pick them every spring. I wonder if they'd be worthwhile on a pizza, or if that'd be a waste compared to using them for more directly mushroom-centric stuff.

I just fried them in a little bit of butter, I figured anything else would be a waste for something so decadent. I feel the same way about chanterelles; the furthest I will go is to prepare some toast and cut it into points to scoop em up Even though mushroom picking is in the family I just don't trust myself enough to always make the right call while foraging
