Last night was a perfect loss, rookie debut for Zary and he scores, team plays actually somewhat interesting hockey for most of the first period, shits the bed completely in the second and then play a pretty good third period. Jonathan Huberdeau has 1 secondary assist in his last 6 games and was benched in the final minute of the game down by 1 for the aforementioned rookie who was making his NHL debut because Connor loving Zary was playing about a billion times better than Huberdeau.

Players that look great in Florida almost routinely suck anywhere else and nobody knows why. Best guess is that the Panthers play on some kind of cursed pavel bureial ground.

He's also an all-offense guy that needs open space and a run and gun system to be effective and Calgary doesn't have the personnel or coaching to take advantage of his strengths. Doesn't help that the age 30 wall appears to have hit him harder than other top-end guys. Similarly, Kadri was signed after a career year at age 30 that he would obviously never repeat, and moving to a worse team only magnifies his regression and age drop-off.

They also gave him the Gaudreau contract and apparently expect him to carry the puck like Gaudreau instead of distributing the puck like some guy who supposedly had 85 assists in season once. But he also iced the puck on the powerplay last night so who the gently caress knows...
