I've been obsessed with MEUTE lately. They're an ~11 person brass band that does pure acoustic techno pieces. It sounds gimmicky, but it's shockingly good.

oh yeah i gotta check that out, thanks. that's what gab oliver is trying to do with relaunching zero tolerance

1999-2003 or so was my absolute favorite when we had all the dark progressive stuff. even saw sasha and digweed on the delta heavy tour in 2002! yes i'm old

anyway

I've been listening to this, it's amazing. hard to buy it anywhere though

It has one of my favorite all time tracks, Rumble Fish by Tone Depth, with a beautiful Mainline remix right before it

if you want something REALLY dark quivver's transport is great

I think that's a much different style, the quivver transport comp isn't trancey at all. It's sound can also be found on parts of GU Los Angeles and Hong Kong.

for something really dark and trancey from that area this track always comes to mind. she also did a tranceport album which you might enjoy

If you're in the UK and an Orbital fan and for some reason not on their mailing list or socials yet: they're doing a tour in April/May next year where they'll be performing the full Green Album for the first time since 1992.

Weirdly, we don't know exactly what the set list will be. The Green Album had two tracks that only appear on the vinyl and cassette releases (one on each) and the US version also added Choice and Satan at the expense of the outro and one other track from the European version.

that's just a crowd at a dnb show. the new gen dnb with the massive wubs and drops and constant rewinds, people freak out like I haven't seen at shows since the height of the skrillex dubstep era.

old heads all hate it so it must be good

As an old head, it's been fun seeing the 140 kids discover dnb

Also as an old head, it was nice to see a mostly middle aged crowd at ltj bukem last summer. I've been into bass and house since the 90s and my wife and I are increasingly the oldest people in the room at most edm shows

Lots of good releases out recently. 'Colour Bass' is not really my thing but I'm digging a couple of tunes on the new Au5 album, IMANU is out there doing his weird-rear end thing again, and Dirt Monkey's album is predictably frenetic, and fun.

I didn't come here to post about that though. IDK how many of y'all ITT still gently caress with Dubstep-rear end Dubstep, but good lord, DUPLOC100 has some enormous tunes on it. I'm sitting here enjoying some blonde hash and bumping it with my subwoofer up. I haven't felt this kind of bass pressure with such perfectly visceral swelling midrange reeses making my hair stand on end since the likes of Cobalt by SPL. I don't get out enough but I want to hear these tunes on the 40Hz soon.

Went to go see RL Grime Halloween Night at the Mission Ballroom and it was one of the best shows I've been to in a very long time. The fittingly Ultra Wide curved video wall had this really interesting 2000's era clip art/old timey cartoon aesthetic. The Lasers kicked rear end and the songs from Play really work in a live setting like Breach. Also its just unfair Denver has one of the best outdoor EDM venues in Red Rocks and one of the best indoor venues in Mission.

I'm super jealous! Was tempted to take a cheap frontier flight out to Denver to catch this, but the scheduling never aligned. I've had his Play album on repeat since it released, and I hope he announces a phase 2 at the start of the new year.

He also posted his annual Halloween mix this last Saturday. Halloween XII - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CYo-F3bLj3o
