A fishperson in an intimidating hat!

Of episodes not listed I am a fan of the Willie Dee and The Newport Sex Scandal and Satchel Paige and Trujillo is an awesome baseball episode

e: episode 8, The Dolphin. Incredible, on the same level as The Rube and Ten Cent Beer Night imo. It has the flavor of Gareth breaking down under the weight of the story, but it’s only him being flabbergasted at the escalations not anything soul-crushing.

Also of episodes not yet listed I've recommended #211 The Tichborne Situation several times in this thread and I'm doing it again. It's absolutely hilarious and free from any soul-crushing world issues. Just a good weird story

Dang, can't believe I missed that one. Definitely seconding it.

The Bonesetter episode from the England miniseries is also fantastic. Basically The Dollop England has zero duds and is mostly bangers.

One of them has one of my favorite Dollop riff scenarios, where dudes in an ice cream van pull up next to another one to chase them off of the first one’s turf, and do it by playing The Entertainer but with malice.

Cyril the Swan is a good one from the England/UK episodes, too. Heck, that whole "season" is pretty good.

Other good ones, some may have already been mentioned by others:
Competitive Endurance Tickling
The Fine Cotton Scandal
Pedestrianism (for Gareth's constant amazement/disbelief that people watched other people walking)
Porter Rockwell
The Eggnog Riot (Christmas at West Point goes terribly wrong)
Stagecoach Mary
Bass Reeves
The Pig War (I also like Stop Podcasting Yourself; I feel like Graham "gets it" in this, more than his cohost, who is also named Dave)
The Car Known As The Dale
Judge Roy Bean
Gaston Means (played by Stephen Root in Boardwalk Empire)
The Butter Crime
Marm Mandelbaum

You could probably pick any regular poster in this thread, click their post history, and get at least 5 different posts with lists of recommended episodes. They may or may not all be the same episodes (I know I've mentioned Stagecoach Mary a few times because she was a loving badass; the laundry bill thing is so good).

Some I like that are mostly just wild or funny stories:

Cabeza de Vaca
Billy Martin
Eddie Haymour
Billy Hitler
Tycho Brahe
Cecilia Vasa
Harlan Sanders (great Gareth reaction when he doesn't realize who it is until almost halfway through)
Maud Mandelbaum

And some inspiring and feel-good stories:

John Brown
Eugene Debs

Oh yeah, the Ross Perot episode is great too, mainly because Gareth does pretty much the entire episode as Ross Perot. A bunch of people have danced around it, but basically any baseball episode is going to be great. The only one that is a bit of a downer is Breaking Glenn Burke, but is offset by a wonderful twist about the invention of the high five. For new listeners I always try to suggest something either germane to their interests, or something local. One of my favorite episodes is Trapper Nelson, about a guy who was basically the south Florida version of Crocodile Dundee. I grew up in the same town as him, and we would take field trips to his estate in the state park. Was fun to hear the entire story, and also even knowing a bit more than Dave (Nelson's brother absolutely killed him and bragged about it constantly, my step dad experienced it first hand).

The military would not help them make it most likely, and that already sweeps the leg on a big source of budget. All pro-military movies get a bunch of funding and help making their movie from the armed forces.
