Ketchup packets. It’s too bad I have a complete Standard collection already, but this is a superb deal for anyone who’s fallen off and wants to get back in.

Hmm, I wonder if this will bite them in the rear end.

One of the things that keeps people (like me, for instance) engaged is the fact that if you take a year off, you would have to put down a lot of cash to catch up, needing to get desirable cards of at least 3 expansions to be competitive/enjoy the game. Sunk cost fallacy, yada yada yada.

Now, if you pass on a bunch of expansions, you could potentially get back into the game way more easily, at a significantly lower cost (pending the price point announcement for those packs).

Thing is (at least for me) - if I quit a game, I hardly ever return to it after a while.
So I could use being aware of this offer to "get clean" with the knowledge it would be easier to get back in, but I might never want to return once I cut the cord.

yeah aggro/treant/drum druid will serve you well. even an optimized hsreplay list only runs two copies each of two epics, disciple of eonar and widowbloom seedsman. (topior is not necessary and honestly imo not even good in the deck.) it's been slightly nerfed since I got legend with it two months ago because embrace of nature is now 2 mana rather than 1, but it will absolutely serve your needs

It can probably steamroll low MMR as an aggro deck, but if you play it like a combo deck setting up for big, stabilizing swings you might have more success as you climb.

No free battle pass as far as I know but honestly the vast majority of non-cosmetic rewards in the pass are available without paying, the only thing you really miss are bonuses that speed up the progression. The battle passes are probably the most F2P friendly change Hearthstone has made since it first launched.

There’s a few guaranteed legendaries. Other than that, they’re Standard packs that can’t be saved for future sets — in other words, dust. Established players aren’t really the audience for them.

kater
Nov 16, 2010

Unless I miscomprehend the legendary protection on them is in first fifty cards you open per expansion, which means it is non-existant if you aren’t getting a bunch per pack.

Blasmeister

You would get 5 legendaries, one from each expansion, within the first 50 packs. Assuming you want old legendaries and the packs themselves are sold for cheap, that might be worth it to you. For dust calculus however you should note that there are no golden cards so the dust return in general is worse than for regular packs.
