Last time a vocalist named CJ McSomething got kicked out of a deathcore band, they just released the album as-is (Lorna Shore's Immortal). Re-recording the vocals is a sick move, especially that late in the process. They must really hate that guy.

At least I no longer have to spend precious brain resources on trivia like "which CJ is the bad one"

It's alright, but I'm going to use this as an opportunity to say this:

A lot of these bands need to find a way to put out more than one album every 3+ years. I'm not sure how you're supposed to create and maintain any sort of momentum when your fans have to wait so long between releases. Album release cycles are also usually when new fans discover a band, so it's a double whammy. I know Covid hosed up a lot of bands schedules, but come on:

Harms Way: 5 years between albums
    Code Orange: 3 years
Veil of Maya: 6 years (!!)
    Periphery: 4 years
Darkest Hour: 6 years (and counting)
    Unearth: 5 years
Despised Icon: 4 years (and counting)
Bury Your Dead: 4 years since they released that EP (and counting)
After the Burial: 4 years between last album and a few singles earlier this year

These are just off the top of my head, but there are others also.

They should put out music when they have good music. A lot of these bands aren't raking in cash, this might not even be their full time job.

Code Orange released a few good songs in 2017 so while technically an EP, they haven't made an album since 2014. What are you even talking about?

In case you missed it: Keith Buckley's new band, Many Eyes, will be going on tour with Thursday at the beginning of next year.

Keith is so good and he sounds amazing on the new song which isn’t a surprise. Musically I don’t super vibe with it but maybe it’ll grow on me. I don’t like Greg Puciato’s vocals nearly as much as I like Keith’s but i do like him and I think he makes a lot of sense with Better Lovers and I’ve really enjoyed the four songs they’ve got out so far

The Spiritbox is a lot heavier than I've come to expect from them anymore, I dig it.

Many Eyes single "Revelations" officially dropped today too. Keith sounds incredible, dude has zero rust from his ETID days. The song's definitely an earworm, I'm listening to it a lot today. Stoked to check out more from the new band.

That Many Eyes track is good, but that's entirely because Keith is a good vocalist/lyricist. The music is meh, at best. Seeing Better Lovers again tonight really solidifies my thinking they're the "better" band. I don't love Greg as their frontman, but I do think he's better love than Keith, and by a decent margin, even if I like his less on record. And BL's live show brings all the same energy that I loved about ETID. I would be SHOCKED if Many Eyes will be able to bring it nearly as hard

Edit: also, those new tracks all fuggin rule

Yeah I agree with basically all of this. Many Eyes has Keith but musically sounds kind of like upper tier buttrock. I’ll definitely check out the full Many Eyes album but I’m nowhere near as stoked on them as I am on Better Lovers.

e: Many Eyes posted on their IG that "Revelations" had been added to the rotation on Octane which confirms buttrock status, lol

I just got my media pass for that for the Toronto show today.

I'm so loving excited. I got to shoot both their Guelph shows back in April. Rody is in fine fine form these days:

Band keeps getting better.

Everyone has probably seen this already but Many Eyes put out a video for Revelation
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jVSi24Pb-ic

Video is fine. Song has grown on me but the music still sounds like a royalty-free rock and metal track from the YouTube Audio Library.

I've mostly ignored this band since Disgusting but I've been really liking the new Beartooth. It's unapologetically poppy in a way that works surprisingly well, but without turning into a boring low-energy slog. Plus, Caleb just writes some drat good hooks. Definitely won't work for everyone but I kinda love it.

that's definitely how i feel about it. i enjoy any vocals keith has ever or will ever do, but the music is definitely generic octane rock. i'll listen to the album to enjoy his vocals but i'm not expecting much in general.

football.

I saw Botch in Atlanta last night. It's the best show I've ever seen. They absolutely tore the place down and sounded incredible.

It undid any hope I had for more new material. They said, "This is the final time we'll ever play Atlanta, or anywhere in the south. We love you." :smith:

Such a badass show though. They're old as hell and so am I.
