The suggestion is that he'd opt out after 2 or 3 years, i.e. after he's proven he can pitch at a high level again by doing so for your team. Andrew Friedman's dream above all dreams is for this kind of short term high AAV deal. It's the primary reason he went after Bauer. I just don't buy that this is what Ohtani actually wants.

I pretty much agree that Verdugo is a shithead and I'd rather not root for him but JUST from a baseball perspective it's not a awful.

drat I didn’t think it could get much worse as a Sox fan but seeing Benetti go like this hurts deep. The only saving grace at least since TLR was hired was that we had one of the best tv duos in the sport. No matter how bad they were on the field or how bad the atmosphere around the team was, it was still worth it to tune into their broadcasts. Tigers fans should be super excited about this

i'm so fuckin bummed about benetti not just because i feel bad for sox fans who have had one of the most promising teams in the majors turned into complete poo poo through blatant mismanagement from a garbage owner who is also ruining my favorite basketball team, but because as a Certified Baseball Sicko I watch a bunch of Sox games because they're just on here and because the White Sox were extraordinarily funny this year, and Benetti and Stone made those awful games a lot of fun.
