I know gorby really, really wanted to be in a pizza hut commercial but is that everything? Why would you trust at all the promise of someone who hated you so profoundly that they would literally destroy the world? Why surrender every advantage, every defense against the former, implacable enemy changing their mind and simply not living up to their side of the agreement?

I guess by the time 1990 rolled around the soviet elites were devoted to tearing up the soviet union and didn't care how it happened

What happened to the pilots whose plane they flew was destroyed by Russia in the like the first hour of the war? Do they just get to sit around and collect a paycheck?

They get a rifle shoved in their hands and pointed towards the frontline meatgrinder to see if the Russian artillery still works. A couple went to the USA to learn the ways of the F16. One returning Ace was shot down immediately on his first flight back in Ukraine. Like, immediately. Also the one called Juice had a mid-air collision with another guy. Who was at fault, who knows.

if there's any oversight left at all they probably need to have at least a few pilots left if they're going to base a lot of their state's continued existence on begging for planes from america i could see them still trying it after sending all the pilots to get killed by artillery but even that might be a step too far

dead gay comedy forums posted:What I'd argue going from what was learned (and in other discussions we had elsewhere here) was that the intent lacked more substantial efforts. The OGAS theoreticians and the technical-scientific Leninist line of political economists were warning and elaborating on the need to develop the technical means of planning, because the computational costs and technical lag were causing cascading overhead costs. This then goes into the bureaucratic-political quagmire, where divergent forces ("khruschevists", old stalinists, cryptoliberals etc) had trouble understanding the "scientific" part of scientific socialism, to say the least I appreciate this read-back, by the way. I tend to agree that, setting aside the deliberate attempt to bury Brezhnev-era "Developed Socialism" as a school of thought, I didn't get the impression that there was a lot of impetus behind it beyond its establishment.

Frosted Flake posted:Just like the "Holodomor", Gaza +1, I would imagine. This has come up recently in the context of the UN's confirmed civilian deaths in Gaza coming close to surpassing Ukraine's, so yeah I guess the point is to claim there's a huge uncounted civilian death toll. Maybe they're using the same playbook as Israel and claiming military dead are actually civilians.
