A long time ago i was working a crappy stocktaking job. One day i had to count the top shelves in a tesco world food aisle. I found a big yellow bag of jamaican cheese Nik Naks. At the end of my shift i came back and bought them. Best Nik Naks i've ever had hands down. Never saw them for sale anywhere ever again.

Wotsits crunchy are okay, kinda makes me a little uncomfortable to eat something so dense with that flavouring tho. Big wotsits are where its at imo. My crisp perversion is that day old slightly stale big wotsits are better than the fresh ones.

One of my colleagues said she was going to the protest "against genocide" this weekend, and in my near-catatonic state, I almost asked her "which genocide" until I realised it wasn't funny.
I pointed that out to her, and she assumed I was referring to the one in Congo (?DR Congo?) and I told her I'd forgotten about that, and was thinking of the Myanmar regime's recent bloodlust. And then I remembered that quasi-separatist thing going on in India and realised that it is, in fact, possible for there to be so many atrocities happening around the world that you can become almost blasé about genocide.

Which is cool, I guess.

The tesco shelves formed a spacetime anomaly that crossed you over into the jamaican cheese Nik Nak branch of the universe

So that Scottish MP is paying his big phone bill himself in the end. Lol that it alone is apparently more than every MSP's phone bill put together for the whole year. But then I guess voice communication isn't hugely useful for people that sound like Scottish people.

I'm a bit annoyed though that the point isn't why the gently caress are roaming charges still allowed to bankrupt a normal person for a week's holiday worth of data? Luckily this guy earns over a hundred grand a year, but soaking up an 11k phone bill would destroy most people. Criminal.

Some of the replies seem to suggest he's a fake rabbi who went to the Jewish equivalent of Liberty University in the US, which for those not in the know is a fake university run by a fascist Christian and its degrees aren't worth the paper they're printed on, unless you apply to a business run by a Christian fascist.

I did 3-4k on my work phone without realising when I was in Canada for a week, mainly using Google maps and checking email. It’s easy to happen especially if you’re not tech savvy.

There are £6/mb in Morocco, for example. 1.8gb isn’t a tonne of data to use.

Maybe they are used to eating something like

quote:

Pringles have about 42% potato content, the remainder being wheat starch and flours (corn and rice) combined with vegetable oils, an emulsifier, salt, and seasoning. Other ingredients can include sweeteners such as maltodextrin and dextrose, monosodium glutamate (MSG), disodium inosinate, disodium guanylate, sodium caseinate, modified food starch, monoglyceride and diglyceride, autolyzed yeast extract, natural and artificial flavorings, malted barley flour, wheat bran, dried black beans, sour cream, cheddar cheese, etc.; Pringles varieties vary in their ingredients.

or even calling something like cheetos as crisps?

There was a coup in early 2021 and ever since then they've been even worse towards the peripheral provinces, starting with Chinland (northwest) and Shan State (east).

BBC has an article principally focusing on Shan (ignoring Chinland has been a theme since before the start) implying that China among others are getting bored with Burma's poo poo and are no longer going to default to "the sovereign state is the legitimate party." Also Shan separatists captured a regional capital.

Best possible result for this shitshow is the junta collapsing in disarray, the previous constitution being annulled, and a proper federal union established. I don't think anyone really wants full sovereign status, just an end to direct rule bullshit.

It's all been very distant in coverage compared to Russia/Ukraine, Israel/Palestine, or even events in Chad/ECOWAS though.

walkers, for example, are produced in a factory which also handles cereals. the tiniest bit can gently caress up your guts if you're sensitive - the legal requirements for something to be called "gluten-free" on the packaging is 20 parts per million.

From a little bit back, but I get this a lot. It’s good to remember that you’re not the one detached from reality, they are. Most people don’t think they’re hate marches. Hardly any actual people think that. It’s just columnists and the political/media establishment in their own weird bubble and they’re the ones who are detached.

I suppose it's a human psychic defence to deal with the enormity of the horror, but it's a terrible one as it lets nazis off the hook.

Like sure they wrote extensively about it in advance and also during and constructed an industrial scale murder machine and then tried to hide it, which are all major legal standards for establishing mens rea, but they didn't mean to, or if they did they felt bad.

It's only one step removed from "the gas chambers were for delousing uniforms" outright denialism really.

It does seem to be true that the Nazis proposed that plan to put all the Jews on Madagascar which could, if you really really wanted it to, look like they wanted to preserve life and only went to extermination as a last resort. But on the other hand they clearly weren't that committed to it, were they, on account of all the murders they did.

Seems to be a bit just bad Godwin "your worse than nazis" stuff, a bit too much time spent dreaming of and justifying their favorite nationalist ethno-state. Not a lot of healthy takes to be mined in that shaft

This is in no way handing it to the Nazis, but it is true that Himmler was concerned about mass murders via shooting people into open graves a la the opening months of Barbarossa, because he was concerned about how the SS dudes used to get drunk during and or after the events, and Himmler figured it was "psychologically stressful" or some poo poo. Of course the preferred solution was moving towards said industrial scale mass murdering methods, because Himmler and the SS really, really wanted to murder millions of innocent people, Himmler just didn't like "his boys" getting drunk and rowdy.

Funny story, but the Madagascar Plan was basically built on the work of the Poles & French, as the Poles went to France in the '30s to see if there was anything they could do about their Jews. Also the Nazi plan really really really wasn't about preserving life, they were entirely expecting a whole load of Jews to die either on the boat ride to the island (which I'm assuming would be on conditions comparable to slaves on slave ships) or just mysteriously die there on an island turned into a police state run by the SS.

OK, that's not funny, it's hideous, but that's history for you. Douglas Murray is a loving ghoul & yet it is the left that hates Jews.

I mean, they did by 1940, albeit indirectly through the Vichy puppet. The people proposing the Madagascar plan wanted it handed over as part of the surrender of France
