I don't think I made a goonzuke post last month, although I did do the goonzuke. There's not a whole lot in terms of storylines, with all 4 ozeki defending their ranks creating a logjam for new promotions. GoatSeeGuy has been winning, but not enough to make a serious run, and while Khizan is putting up better numbers they'll need to really have a big win to open a new ozeki slot. Luckily we were able to drop 2 people from san'yaku (Eli949 and Marching Powder), which affords a little breathing room on the top of the sheet, but for the most part it was some normal ups and downs, with a few extra promotions or demotions based on score distributions, but still nothing too crazy.

On the juryo-makuuchi barge we've exchanged bessantj, Chinook, scripterror, and rare Magic card l00k for Lid, Average Lettuce, Nativity In Black, and Xerzes in makuuchi, while oldskool is in position to threaten for a promotion based on this basho's scores.

Alright, with the goonzuke up I should be able to get daily standings in shortly. Be back soon!

You'd think that charisma would be a dump stat for sumo but there's Ura.

There are a lot of charismatic/funny ones, we simply don't really get much visibility into it because they're following the rules. If you see some of the recordings from the Jungyo and secondary interactions there it's pretty clear there's a fairly diverse crowd. Seeing Hoshoryu grinning ear to ear and cracking jokes with Wakamotoharu is weird as hell.

He was my favourite from right when I started watching (he debuted in top division the second tourney I followed). I was so pumped when he finally got promoted after being a de-facto Ozeki for like 5 years. It is crazy the cliff he is coming off of.
