We have ball and socket joints, so our arms and legs can go forward, backwards, and away from our body. Cats and dogs have joints that do forwards and backwards, but not away from their bodies, so carrying them like that is uncomfortable for them.

This is in no way blessed. That's a Cassowary. A giant, angry dinosaur of a bird with a bone mohawk and claws that will gut you crotch to sternum. Previously they had been confined to Queensland, but if the bastards can swim, who knows where they'll go next?
