Their website says 'from at least £90 a week'.
So assuming the lowest per year is £4320.

They say they have '23 Five bed flats, 16 Four bed flats, 11 Six bed cluster flats and 4 studio apartments'

So 115+64+66+8 total. Assuming studio apartments are two bedroom.

253 beds roughly.

253 x 4320 = £1,092,690 per year.

Boohoo if you charge me 43k I'll still have a million, how dare you, you are starving my family.

It was twenty years ago now (Christ!) but when I was at Teesside university I spent the first year assuming the town was almost entirely white, until I happened to wander into a bit of the town I’d never been before and to my astonishment discovered an entire south Asian community there. Like, a large one. There was almost no evidence for this outside of the specific roads they were on - you could walk through the town centre on a Saturday afternoon and only see white faces. Seeing the mosque dome in the distance from a tall building was the only clue.

To be fair, even by the end of my degree you could see a marked improvement, with much more integration in Middlesbrough. But that initial segregation was very shocking to me at the time.

looks like tenant screening, a housing inspection program, a social intervention program, and maintaining a directory of properties available to rent

i'm convinced something happens to the brain when people have too much money

there's a very wealthy man in my town, descendant of the bloke who designed the Titantic and the main heir to the estate. He's probably in his mid-sixties now and most people in town call him either Mr Bean or Mr Burns.

Couple of anecodes thanks to the services of local checkout operators: spent 20 minutes in a Tesco Express arguing that he should be able to pay for just one orange rather than buying a net of oranges. on another occasion in Super Valu, spent a period of time engaged in a circular argument insisting that he should be able to use his out of date coupon to get a discount of a matter of pence until someone in the queue got fed up and gave him the sum of money - he accepted it.

he has a special garden with hedges that he has sculpted. He has a great love of horses so presumably the ones that resemble creatures are supposed to be equine, but the best of them looks like an afghan hound standing on its hind legs.

oh and he's quite recently divorced on account of there's only so much a human woman can put up with and he's on a mission to flog off as much land as possible for as much as he can get

he submitted a planning application to cram 14 "town houses" onto a plot of land that is the back garden of a 150 year old terrace house that he rents out - it's about 60m x 30m

I’m not saying the original map is correct, but it’s definitely not about that old article because that’s about a security council vote so there’d be no way for most of the world to vote.

Edit: Checked and it seems genuine:

https://press.un.org/en/2023/gaspd798.doc.htm

By a recorded vote of 145 in favour to 7 against (Canada, Hungary, Israel, Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Nauru, United States) with 18 abstentions, the Committee approved the draft resolution titled “Israeli settlements in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and the occupied Syrian Golan” (document A/C.4/78/L.15). By its terms, the Assembly would condemn settlement activities in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and in the occupied Syrian Golan and any activities involving the confiscation of land, the disruption of the livelihood of protected persons, the forced transfer of civilians and the annexation of land, whether de facto or through national legislation.

It's quotes like this that make me wonder if the entire political system and the media that covers it is some huge, long-span satirical art project.

Like, you could not write better satire than that - trying to justify an ally causing civilian deaths in a conflict by reminding everyone that your country once killed tens of thousands of civilians in one city in two days in what is considered by many to be a major war crime, so your ally's actions are fine.

Surely anyone who was actually trying to make this sort of argument would use, well, almost any other British bombing operation in WW2 - one that at least had an unarguably military objective. Not the most controversial one of the entire conflict. The only sort of person who would hold up Dresden as an excuse for the 'good guy' would have to be doing a bit?

Genuinely makes my brain hurt :psyduck:

This is not anything special, when I checked out what the resolution actually is it’s the same resolution the UN votes on yearly around this time that always passes with these kind of margins. You can go back and see a similar resolution passing every year by similar margins for decades.

Good that countries are using the general assembly to put pressure on Israel, but this won’t amount to anything and is in effect the status quo rather than something happening in response to the current attacks on Palestinians.
