IEC Site 113 Progress Report #011

0424. IEC-loyal employees embedded within worker's union have successfully influenced decision to adhere only to official policy.

No unproductive consequences may come of workers' councils any more.

0837. Secondary use for steam exchangers available for use should we fall behind schedule.

Sir, a misused tool exploded, causing fire in the construction site. There were no fatalities and the fire was put out before it spread, but some workers were poisoned by fumes.

1300. Dangerous conditions at work site cause several workers to fall ill despite after-hours equipment maintenance. Strike is likely imminent.

1314. Workers strike until safer conditions are available.

1346. Class 2 employees continue work with no interruption.

We used to catch fish here.

A hill with a rocky top rises from the plain.

0119. One off-site source of fish depleted. Foragers break camp and move on in search of new food source.

1025. Coal income has been negative since ventilation plant installed. Charcoal kiln may convert excess wood supply to coal if necessary.

Sir, council representatives rouse the workers to protest your signing of Official Doctrine.
"Why are you trying to muzzle the Workers' Councils?!" - a representative steps forward from a group of workers, waving the proclamation crumpled in his fist. "What's the purpose of this?! You are going too far!"
The representatives seem really agitated... but we might invite them to dine with you so you could convince them.

1402. Increased tensions since latest law and accident jeopardize influence over union leadership. A meeting over tea is held in my quarters to re-secure Company authority.

1552. Use of protective structures on tower pumps boosts workplace safety enough to allow assembly to resume.

1557. Material receiving infrastructure is expanded with an eye to improving coal income.

Sir, we have now enough resources to prepare the safety equipment necessary to ensure evacuation of people working in the deepest part of the shaft in case of emergency and improve their work safety.

1601. Steam exchangers have been prepared to further improve safety of tower pump construction area. Safety equipment and emergency tunnels are placed within easy reach of all underground labourers.

1607. As assembly of tower pumps nears conclusion, necessary preparation for next building phase are being made. A foundry will be vital to producing materials sufficiently sturdy to withstand internal forces of completed generator.

The hill isn't very tall, but offers a wide view over the plain. We can see a string of dark spots not very far from here.

A hill with a rocky top rising from the wide plain.

Several large crates lie scattered among the rocks.

1727. Summiting prominent landmark allows foragers to spot lost crates which may contain useful supplies.

1950. Arrival of steam core allows erection of foundry facility to be designated.

2157. Foundry construction complete and ready for production, though as yet unmanned.

These heavy wooden crates are used to transport valuable or fragile goods. They are stencilled with prominent signs warning against dropping them.

Inspecting the crates, we found some steam exchangers and steel composites. These valuable resources must've been destined for the Winterhome construction site, but it seems they got mislaid - fell off a trailer or something.

That's the place where we found several crates of parts destined for Winterhome's generator.

0159. What was initially thought to be crates of materials turned out to be on closer inspection nothing of noteworthy importance.

Tire tracks lead towards several heavy haulers stopped in the distance.

Foragers redirected to next point of interest, apparently vehicles from another IEC construction site.

0435. In case of on-site employee casualties directly related to contracted generator construction, the IEC will now pay for the funeral.

The drivers got out of the haulers and gathered in the circle. They seem to be troubled.

It appears that the convoy is heading for Winterhome. That's a long way from here. They are carrying parts crucial for the proper operation of Winterhome's generator. It seems that they lost several crates on the way. Without them the construction of their generator might be compromised.

The convoy heading for site 41 stopped here to look for their lost crates.

1111. Foragers successfully rendezvoused with IEC convoy bound for Site 041. Pleasantries were exchanged and good luck wished to the drivers, who carelessly misplaced valuable company equipment.

We see something that from the distance looks like a gigantic statue.

Next destination is nearest landmark.

Sir, there was a catastrophic accident in the lower levels! A cave in exposed the underground heat source, engulfing our people in deadly fumes.
We can seal the source off to save them, although it will permanently reduce the power available to the generator. But if we leave it open, all our people underground will die.

1115. Disaster nearly struck once again. Fortunately, previously prepared escape tunnels and drilled procedures have done their work. There will be some injuries and a short delay as we wait for the worst of the gases to dissipate. Other than that there will be no notable setbacks to generator construction nor diminution of its capacity once complete!

Sir, we have great news - all workers were rescued, and the source remains open! Some of our people were hurt, a few of them seriously, but if we provide them with proper medical care, they will live.
And when we finish the generator, it will be able to achieve its full heating power.

1417. Ventilation and inspection of generator shaft are complete, as is extraction of injured construction crew. Work may resume immediately. We are now only four days ahead of schedule.

Before I do anything, I think, well what hasn't been seen. Sometimes, that turns out to be something ghastly and not fit for society. And sometimes that inspiration becomes something that's really worthwhile.
These emergencies can be a real kick in the pants the first time you play this scenario. If you don't prepare the safety gear, you're most likely going to have the choice between "the generator is damaged and won't work properly" or "a bunch of people die."

On the flip side, once you know they're coming you can take steps to be prepared. If the workplace safety level is the highest it can be (from a combination of low levels of fumes, plenty of ventilation, spending structural profiles, etc) then you get the best result seen here. Hell, you don't even have to make the safety equipment if you know exactly when the disaster will happen.

There are still some fish in the lake, but they're too small to catch.

Countless reindeer tracks lead towards the mountain pass.

1417. Second fishing lake has run out of useful stock, but foragers have caught trail of another reindeer herd.

No cases of venereal diseases were discovered.

1823. Employees assigned to house of pleasure have been checked for disease and cleared. Medics give tentative notice that spread of contagion has halted.

As we suspected, it's just a tall rock sculpted by winds into a shape that from certain angle looks like a standing human. It's a useful landmark nonetheless.

A rock that looks like a gigantic human statue.

We can see something that looks like a field kitchen among rocks over there.

1958. Second foraging team has spotted signs of human habitation near Site 107 coordinates.

It seems that an avalanche came down from here not long ago. Hoof tracks disappear in the avalanche field - did the reindeer cause it?

A herd of reindeer might have caused an avalanche here.

The avalanche field is huge. It will take hours to traverse.

2241. First foraging team followed reindeer tracks into aftermath of avalanche. Snowpack development appears to have occurred atypically early for this latitude.

We found no food in the field kitchen, althought it must've been used recently: there's still some water in the two large pots inside.

An abandoned field kitchen.

This must be the ill-fated generator construction site number 107 we were told about.

0351. No inhabitatants remained at field kitchen, but foragers were able to spot Site 107 from there and set forth immediately.

We've traversed the avalanche field and found no reindeer tracks on the other side. The herd might be buried at the foot of the mountain.

A huge avalanche field.

The snow is piled high at the foot of the mountain. The reindeer might be buried there.

0612. Foragers have sent word of successful traversal of avalanche field. Now moving on suspicion that reindeer might have been swept to bottom of mountain.

0950. To continue excelling and exceeding further avenues of research must be devised and pursued.

There are still people here, packing their belongings and preparing dozens of coffins for transport. A young engineer approaches us.

The young engineer, who introduced herself as Effie MacLachlan, is relieved to see us. "I'm glad you came. We are to be evacuated, but you just can't be sure in these times," she says. Then she tells us what happened.
Long story short - the core of their generator exploded after a fire broke out in the final stages of construction. Effie says she saw the tragedy coming but no one listened to her, the youngest engineer on site. She and some friends are not giving up - they want to use their experience to help us finish our generator.

1203. Site 107 reached and salvageable materials recovered. The foraging team is returning home with significant number of recovered structural profiles, steam exchangers, steel composites and one steam core - as well as twelve young engineers who wish to assist at Site 113.

Sir, to impress on our people the importance of their work, the most engaged workers are organizing "Day of the Generator." They plan to gather everybody and throw a feast to celebrate the construction of the Generator.
The activists report that their proposal was met with widespread approval - it seems that people are warming up to the radical ideas. They ask if you'd like to support their initiative.

1403. Union council has voted in a measure that will increase worker loyalty to generator project. After ensuring the gathering would occur off-hours I was happy to donate extra Company-stamped rations.

Climbing the wall of snow piled high by the avalanche, we found a herd of reindeer cut off in a small valley.

The reindeer have no way to escape. We could stop here for a few days to hunt them and dig up those buried by the avalanche.

1509. Reindeer herd located, survivors injured and isolated. Foragers will set up camp here to enjoy easy prey with no personal risk.

A herd of reindeer was cut off by an avalanche in a small valley. We could stay here for a few days and hunt them.
The camp will deliver 80 Raw Food every 1d 0h - in total: 720 Raw Food, over the next 9d 0h.

We are hunting reindeer and sending the meat to the construction site every day.

By God, venison will make a welcome change from the sea of fish we've been subsisting on, won't it? What are you doing, don't write that-

1541. Before steel composite production begins in earnest, the research team has developed an alloying method that is both cheaper and faster.

1710. New law has been introduced allowing for evening services. At my suggestion, chaplain delivered homily regarding Proverbs 14:23.

0435. Foragers return with construction materials and engineers in tow. These will all go towards ensuring generator construction remains ahead of schedule, with minimal disruptions due to insufficient technology or healthcare.
To that end, I must note four employees have been unable to return to work since latest workplace accident due to amputation. There is currently nothing we can do on-site to get them back to work.
Foragers are re-deployed to previously noted rock arch landmark.

With the foundations in place it is time to build the fiery heart of the Generator called a Core. It will have to be enclosed within two Support Frames, which will also hold up the external parts of the Generator.

1054. Assembly of all underground portions of the Generator complete. Next objective is to begin erection of Generator structure itself.

In total, 50 structural profiles and 25 steel composites are required, of which 10 apiece have already been stockpiled from Site 107.

Foundry and profiles manufacture are staffed and put to work on production of necessary components. Both facilities have been upgraded with improved manufacturing processes, but this step will still take some time to collect necessary materials.

1104. Reducing coal consumption by ventilation plant will benefit the high coal requirements of steel composites.

Great work on laying down the generator's foundations. You're making good time.
Down here, bad weather and crop failures prompted an exodus to the colonies. Those who stay place their hopes in the government's newly unveiled evacuation plan. Our company was accused of profiteering by opposition politicians. Pure slander of course.
Unfortunately we lost contact with Site 120. We are attaching its coordinates and would appreciate if you could spare a few men to check up on them.

1155. News and directions received. We are all praying for the continued success of IEC operations in England of course.

We can see several tents set up in a shallow depression, as if to hide them from the wind.

Foraging party is redirected from current course to nearby camp believed to house Site 120 workers.

Union representatives berate you about inequality: "We are making history, you say. We are mankind's last hope. And yet while workers toil, engineers sit on their asses. Enough! Old privileges have no place in the new world. 'From each according to their ability' - and they're perfectly capable to do manual labour."

1402. Workers have sent me another proposal - they wish to see abolition of privileges enjoyed by class 2 employees. I have forwarded the proposal for your consideration but have made no promises.

1643. Improvement to profiles manufacture facility will allow it to work longer and more efficiently.

Sir, some of our people are here to talk about the lack of food. They've been hungry for days now and they fear that soon they'll begin to starve. They want you to do something and might go on strike if you don't.

1854. Work crew size has currently outstripped capacity for food production. Food production will be expanded to satisfy needs without sacrificing quality of rations. Employees will be reminded that crew members too injured to work are a drain on our resources before the next poll is taken.

Dozens of workers eye us suspiciously as we approach. They're a pitiful sight, starving and dressed in rags which don't cover their injuries.

The workers tell us about Site 120 where they toiled in inhuman conditions under their slave-driving boss until they had had enough and ran away one night. They beg us not to betray them if we visit their site.
They're starved and about half of them are sick. They won't survive alone in the wilderness.

1923. Foragers have reached what was apparently workers' camp connected to Site 120 but is now empty.

0123. Large group of volunteers has arrived on site after being inspired by our efforts. Standard contracts and documentation will be provided on-site so as not to place any extra burden on Company resources.

We can see some industrial buildings there. No smoke or other signs of activity.

Foraging team has located and is now en route to collapsed mine believed to belong to Site 120.

Newly arrived labourers are assigned to locations such as fishing harbour, sawmill and docks, in numbers sufficient to run double shifts.

0539. Large influx of new crew may portend future instability and possible personnel issues. A vote will be held to smooth the transition.

Minutes of the Fourth Meeting of the ILGWU

Representative Danvers: Comrades, I appreciate the zeal with which you submit proposals, but if we are to make meaningful progress we must be more mindful of the usefulness of our ideas. Some of the votes which this council has held so far have been... frivolous. Others are good ideas that would be more likely to be sustained if we implemented more important motions first!

Representative Stanwick: I have good news on that front, friends!

We are all equal. Everyone will be required to work anywhere they're sent, no matter - worker or engineer.

Our employers have been beneficent enough to approve the Abolition of Privileges proposal, contingent on our vote. They've made a few minor modifications to the original request, of course, to be more in line with official doctrine, just like we all agreed on!

Our work must be completed on time. Sometimes this requires sacrificing everything in the name of efficiency.

Strategically placed loudspeakers will remind our employees of the importance of their work and increase their motivation.

Other options they've sent for us to look at are Selfless Sacrifice, so that those of us who volunteer to put it all on the line for the job will be recognized, and Propaganda, to remind our friends old and new alike what it is they are working towards every day!

Which Law(s) do we wish to see enacted?

It gets worse: the population of Liverpool in 1880 was about 600,000. These generators, even if you really fill 'em up, are saving fewer than one percent of Liverpudlians (and I think we know which one percent). That's the best case scenario, which has already gone to pot with the failure of one generator.

So all this talk about us being the last hope of Liverpool is just denial presented with a stiff upper lip. There is no hope for Liverpool as we know it -- for any city. The apocalypse is coming and it's not going to be a cozy one. The iceberg looms.

IEC Site 113 Progress Report #012

0541. With recent injuries in mind top priority among workers polled is acquisition of prosthetic limbs.

Care house is prerequisite before prosthetic shipments are available.

1202. Majority of wood income has transitioned to marine import. On-site procurement nonetheless remains a valuable enterprise.

1347. Enough structural profiles have been completed to begin assembly of first half of generator support frame. Half of profiles manufacture team is reassigned to assembly, while other half continues in manufacture.

An engineer known for his criticism of your official doctrine was ambushed by some masked workers. They beat him bloody and told him: "We're building a new world. So watch it, you fat leech. If you're not with us, you're against us." What do you have to say about it?

1400. Tensions between employee grades are rising to unacceptable levels. Interpersonal conflicts are henceforth required to be resolved peacefully or taken to management.

1706. Worksite conditions have led to increased demand of and on current medical facilities. In combination with prosthetics, a more advanced infirmary will ensure all employees are able to return from sick leave.

It's a coal mine, but it has been evacuated after a collapse.

This coal mine has been abandoned after a recent collapse.

This must be the generator construction site the runaway workers told us about.

2002. Nothing of note was found at collapsed mine except confirmation of Site 120 coordinates.

We will return to our amputees the ability to work by ordering prostheses for them.

0117. Artificial limbs will be imported in accordance with employee wishes, rather than repatriation of invalids.

Sir, people we rescued from Workers Camp - those who fled from the failed generator site - are unhappy with life in our camp.
They complain about workplace safety and overtime. They call the work conditions inhumane. They claim that our camp resembles their own too much. What's worse, our people listen to them and grow anxious.

0145. As feared, newly arrived volunteer workers are causing discontent among the camp. IEC employees are instructed to ignore such hearsay on penalty of demerit.

This place eerily resembles our own camp, but destroyed by fire and riots. It seems that their generator was very nearly completed before it blew up.

Site 120 has been destroyed by a violent rebellion. Unburied bodies lie everywhere, we found no survivors. Peeking into the generator pit, we saw even more bodies scattered at the bottom. Judging from their clothes, most of the victims were engineers.
All buildings are in ruin, gutted by fire or wrecked on purpose. We'll gather whatever supplies we can find and leave this terrible place.

The utterly destroyed construction site of Generator 120. We already took everything we could use.

0332. Site 120 discovered. No survivors, minimal salvage. Foragers are returning with recovered materials.

Thank you for investigating Site 120. We were sorry to hear of their fate.
Surely the workers you took in must know more than they are letting on. We strongly suspect that subversive elements are hiding among them and urge you to keep an eye out for dangerous syndicalists.
According to reports from all over the globe, the cooling shows no sign of slowing down. With the other generator project scrapped, your site is now Liverpool's last hope, if the evacuation becomes necessary.

0434. Transmission received, along with weather forecast for impending temperature drop. We shall double our efforts.

1212. Dock shipments slightly outpace current ability to collect delivered resources. More advanced reloading facility will moderate the backlog.

Sir, a group of workers reports the defeatist attitude of their colleague: "He's such a complainer. Nothing but 'oh, we'll never finish this thing on time' and 'we will all die here for nothing' and 'the end is nigh' and 'there's a worm in my soup' and so on. Everyone's sick of it."
They demand that you straighten him out - or they'll do it.

1402. Unfavourable attitude becoming more common among employees. One instigator is levied with fine of one pound for causing unrest.

Numerous footprints lead from Site 120 towards the snow-covered hills. Some survivors - or maybe perpetrators - must've fled there.

1405. Foraging team has delivered 10 structural profiles and set out again for human tracks spotted leaving Site 120 in opposite direction.

1734. To keep up with increased emissions of hazardous gas a second ventilation plant is necessary for operation within acceptable safety levels.

Most of the hungry have had a meal and are somewhat satisfied for the time being.

1155. Double shifts in fishing harbour and cookhouse allow food production to exceed rate of consumption.

1309. Structural profiles are required for both generator construction and protective structures. Reducing the cost of the latter will speed both.

Sir, workers who you so selflessly decided to rescue talked our people into going on strike!
They now demand safe working conditions, shorter working hours, healthier food, better accommodation and good salary. There's absolutely no way we could satisfy those demands. What shall we do?

Workers are angry and refuse to work. They shout about exploitation, terrible working conditions and deadly dangers they face daily.
What will you promise them?

1409. Generator construction crew struck again with support frame assembly nearly complete. Double rations were given as compensation for completing the job today.

1549. On-site coal deposits depleted. Coal income will now primarily come from imports.

Coal gathering post disassembled and workers reassigned to newly designated generator core construction zone.

1815. As next phase of construction will require steam exchangers, safety improvements to machine shop are needed to improve efficiency.

We followed the fugitives into the foothills, but lost the trail here - the freshly fallen snow has covered all footprints.

Searching the area, we found some resources scattered around - the fugitives must have left all inessential supplies behind to lighten their load before entering the hills.
There's no telling what happened to them... but considering the remoteness of this land and the harsh climate, they are likely to die of starvation and exposure before finding help.

1836. Foragers were unable to locate any further survivors of Site 120 incident, but are returning with large amount of recovered raw materials.

2230. Worker's union, comprised primarily of class 1 employees, has elected to remove labour privileges enjoyed by class 2 employees. Any employee grade may now be assigned to any site, though unskilled workers will of course be less effective in facilities which previously required skilled engineers.

2238. First shipment of Tesla Manufacturing prostheses received. Additional prosthetic limb requisitioned for next delivery for redundancy.

0850. All possible personnel and resources extracted from Site 120.

0931. Assembly of second half of generator support frame initiated.

Sir, a small fire broke out in the unfinished Core. We managed to put it out before it spread, but this is bound to happen again if we do not improve the work safety. Additionally, we can build fire dampers inside the structure to limit the scale of any potential fires and the damage from them.

1210. Generator core is not yet operational but already emits heat sufficient to set wooden materials ablaze. Fire dampers will be installed once sufficient steel composites are available.

1336. Research and development team continues to innovate.

1402. Core work halted as workers strike for safer working conditions again.

A fire devastated the construction site. Thankfully it broke out after working hours, so there are no victims. The speed with which it spread is suggestive of arson, and people report seeing someone loitering around the site shortly before the fire.
Construction progress was set back slightly and the site is cluttered with fire debris. What is your priority?

0146. Radical syndicalist elements on site suspected of deliberate sabotage of construction efforts. Cleanup will be complete before morning shift begins, but some retrogression of assemblage is expected.

0912. Development in support of next generator construction phase continues.

This strangely symmetrical rock formation looks like something built with human hand, but it's of completely natural origin.

The rock arch we've already visited.

It's hard to believe our eyes, but what we see looks like a typical roadside tavern.

0936. Foragers have reached new landmark, and report discovery of a tavern. This was initially believed to be transmission error but foraging team confirmed tavern upon request for clarification.

Sir, we now have enough resources to build the fire dampers in the Core which will limit the damage if a fire breaks out.

1302. Sufficient steel composites have been assembled for fire damper system. In conjunction with protective structures this makes job site safe enough to resume construction.

A beaming worker approaches you, walking stiffly on a newly fitted prosthesis you had shipped from the homeland for him.
"I just wanted to thank you. I was slowly going mad, working in the Care House for half pay. Now I'm back in business!"

1402. Employees rendered capable again with prosthetic shipments return to work with determination that is raising morale.

1447. Safety improvements at foundry will also be necessary as more steel composites will be needed in future.

1554. Generator support frame assembly complete. Work on core continues.

The tavern looks deserted. The signboard over the door says: "Pole Star - L'Étoile Polaire." The second name is in French.

The tavern isn't abandoned after all - a rotund man is bustling about, hefting crates and trunks on a sledge. He introduces himself as the owner of this fine establishment.
"While the French were around, I had patrons all day long: workers curing hangover with a breakfast, engineers drinking buckets of coffee over their maps and blueprints and in the evening all together working hard on the next hangover. All of them chatting in bloody French. Now it's over. Take whatever you need, I'm leaving for good."

1922. Foragers believe tavern was attached to undocumented French construction site. Their plans and current location are unknown.

Three dots stand out in the plains stretching to the horizon.

Only clue to French presence may be what are believed to be three graves nearby.

2225. Work has ended for the day. Forecast shows temperature will fall tomorrow morning. Currently unknown when it will rise again. Employees are to hold a vote in order to distract from impending cold spell.

Minutes of the Fifth Meeting of the ILGWU

Representative Danvers: Listen, mates, I'll say it one more time. We need to come up with some serious, practical ideas if we're to make any headway. Nothing will ever get done if we keep wasting time with unnecessary votes.

Representative Howard: More than anything, what we need is unity! You've all seen what can happen when every worker on this rock is pulling together. If we keep up that solidarity, there's not a single thing our employers can do against our united front! All we have to-

Representative Stanwick: If you'll just allow me a moment to interrupt - thank you, thank you. The Company has offered a new option to help us keep the peace here - I'm sure we've all been noticing the tensions that've been brewing between us and our new Site 120 colleagues, and even with our engineer friends, wouldn't you say?

Peoples' Militia will be established to ensure the workers' security and deal with the discontent.

By electing a Peoples' Militia, we can ensure that those unfortunate incidents of violence don't recur. There's no worse outcome for us here than anarchy and violence. We need more law enforcement to keep us safe!

Which Law(s) do we wish to see enacted?

Collective Bargaining and None if that was passed and my search of the records was inadequate.

None

Edit: Also, we took a pound from that guy instead of giving him a pounding. :P

Throwing in my vote for Collective Bargaining. The people must stand strong against those who would weaken us.

I'm guessing the big idea here is that you spend a lot of resources and efficiency up-front but in return you avoid stupid, costly accidents?

IEC Site 113 Progress Report #013

2230. The union continues to expand its influence. Should influence grow beyond acceptable IEC parameters, advise considering replacement of current work crew with class 0 labourers.

Some employees remain loyal to Company interests through skepticism of union policies.

The dots turn out to be graves. The headstones read: Lob, Proloff and Bellau. Who they were? Why were they buried in such a remote place? We'll never know.

Graves of Lob, Proloff and Bellau.

A long line stretches across the plains.

0416. Foragers report grave sites of three unknown persons and what they believe to be a railroad track further afield. New orders are to investigate the phenomenon and ascertain its true nature.

On this morning the camp wakes up to the sight of dancing white flakes. The first snow came much sooner than anyone expected, and although it melts soon, the mood remains depressed.
People shuffle through the mist, the falling snow muffling their voices and turning them pale like ghosts. Someone curses under their breath: "This is the last thing we needed! Working in such cold is going to be a drag!" This nasty surprise heralds an unnaturally early winter, but nobody feels like talking about that...

0708. First snow of the season greeted us this morning. Average temperature will be 0 degrees centigrade for four days. Forecast shows temperature will fall again then.
Such weather is unexpected for this climate. Expecting return to warmer temperatures after pending cold front passes.

1023. Temperature has not yet fallen enough to increase likelihood of sickness due to cold, but infirmary checklists will improve recovery rate in all patients.

Railroad track runs from one horizon to the other. It's enormous - the rails are almost knee high and run on very wide sleepers.

A straight stretch of gigantic railroad track.

Looking down the railroad track we see a huge silhouette.

1249. Foragers report that observed construction was indeed railroad track. They are now following it to what may be a station.

Worker's Council took the initiative to organize an after-hours Aunt Sally tournament. Workers are in high spirits, throwing sticks at a dolly crowned with an old bowler hat.
"Whack it!" shouts one of the players. "Right in the head! Oh, what a shot! I swear, this dolly looks like my bloody foreman in his stupid hat."

1402. Union workers finally managed to get a vote through, organizing recreational activity for after work shift ends. Loyal employees will be assigned to ensure this is not a vector for spread of seditious rhetoric.

Sir, a group of workers claims that they got the man they saw loitering around the construction site before the fire.
The engineer explains in a trembling voice that he was waiting for a date, but nobody comes forward to confirm his story. A foreman scowls at him. "Face the truth, boss: engineers hate the changes, they sabotage the construction to have you sacked. Let's teach them a lesson!"

1445. Suspect for generator core fire apprehended by union workers. Employee is caned in accordance with Section 43-C of standard IEC employment contract.

1558. Even with fully staffed fishing harbour working double shifts, food income has not been sufficient for current crew size. Expansion of harbour and improvement of equipment will allow supply to surpass demand again.

Upgrade commences immediately, as there will be equal loss of immediate productivity at any time of day.

1628. As working environment grows harsher, employee polls continue to be vital to ensure continued high morale.

Minutes of the Sixth Meeting of the ILGWU

Representative Howard: Friends, it may not seem like much, but be assured that this is a victory for us. We have shown the bosses that we can stand united for a common cause, that we can accomplish together what they could not without us! That's not all, either. It may have looked like a small thing to the Company, to be sure, but I have just recieved the final numbers and it seems that together we passed out a total of eighty-five pamphlets to our non-unionized colleagues!

Representative Stanwick: Yes, yes, a remarkable achievement to be sure. Now, onto other matters - our employers have not yet seen fit to make more options available to us for this upcoming election, but fear not! We still have many options available to us!

We can still vote for Bare-Knuckle Bouts, Overcrowding or Extra Rations for the Ill...

...Dispensary, Selfless Sacrifice, Propaganda, and People's Militia. Or, None, of course, since the Company has already made a lot of concessions to us!
