That's the place where we found several crates of parts destined for Winterhome's generator. 0159. What was initially thought to be crates of materials turned out to be on closer inspection nothing of noteworthy importance.  Tire tracks lead towards several heavy haulers stopped in the distance. Foragers redirected to next point of interest, apparently vehicles from another IEC construction site.   0435. In case of on-site employee casualties directly related to contracted generator construction, the IEC will now pay for the funeral.    The drivers got out of the haulers and gathered in the circle. They seem to be troubled. It appears that the convoy is heading for Winterhome. That's a long way from here. They are carrying parts crucial for the proper operation of Winterhome's generator. It seems that they lost several crates on the way. Without them the construction of their generator might be compromised. The convoy heading for site 41 stopped here to look for their lost crates. 1111. Foragers successfully rendezvoused with IEC convoy bound for Site 041. Pleasantries were exchanged and good luck wished to the drivers, who carelessly misplaced valuable company equipment.  We see something that from the distance looks like a gigantic statue. Next destination is nearest landmark.   Sir, there was a catastrophic accident in the lower levels! A cave in exposed the underground heat source, engulfing our people in deadly fumes. We can seal the source off to save them, although it will permanently reduce the power available to the generator. But if we leave it open, all our people underground will die. 1115. Disaster nearly struck once again. Fortunately, previously prepared escape tunnels and drilled procedures have done their work. There will be some injuries and a short delay as we wait for the worst of the gases to dissipate. Other than that there will be no notable setbacks to generator construction nor diminution of its capacity once complete!   Sir, we have great news - all workers were rescued, and the source remains open! Some of our people were hurt, a few of them seriously, but if we provide them with proper medical care, they will live. And when we finish the generator, it will be able to achieve its full heating power. 1417. Ventilation and inspection of generator shaft are complete, as is extraction of injured construction crew. Work may resume immediately. We are now only four days ahead of schedule.

These emergencies can be a real kick in the pants the first time you play this scenario. If you don't prepare the safety gear, you're most likely going to have the choice between "the generator is damaged and won't work properly" or "a bunch of people die." On the flip side, once you know they're coming you can take steps to be prepared. If the workplace safety level is the highest it can be (from a combination of low levels of fumes, plenty of ventilation, spending structural profiles, etc) then you get the best result seen here. Hell, you don't even have to make the safety equipment if you know exactly when the disaster will happen.

  There are still some fish in the lake, but they're too small to catch. Countless reindeer tracks lead towards the mountain pass. 1417. Second fishing lake has run out of useful stock, but foragers have caught trail of another reindeer herd.  No cases of venereal diseases were discovered. 1823. Employees assigned to house of pleasure have been checked for disease and cleared. Medics give tentative notice that spread of contagion has halted.    As we suspected, it's just a tall rock sculpted by winds into a shape that from certain angle looks like a standing human. It's a useful landmark nonetheless. A rock that looks like a gigantic human statue. We can see something that looks like a field kitchen among rocks over there. 1958. Second foraging team has spotted signs of human habitation near Site 107 coordinates.    It seems that an avalanche came down from here not long ago. Hoof tracks disappear in the avalanche field - did the reindeer cause it? A herd of reindeer might have caused an avalanche here. The avalanche field is huge. It will take hours to traverse. 2241. First foraging team followed reindeer tracks into aftermath of avalanche. Snowpack development appears to have occurred atypically early for this latitude.    We found no food in the field kitchen, althought it must've been used recently: there's still some water in the two large pots inside. An abandoned field kitchen. This must be the ill-fated generator construction site number 107 we were told about. 0351. No inhabitatants remained at field kitchen, but foragers were able to spot Site 107 from there and set forth immediately.    We've traversed the avalanche field and found no reindeer tracks on the other side. The herd might be buried at the foot of the mountain. A huge avalanche field. The snow is piled high at the foot of the mountain. The reindeer might be buried there. 0612. Foragers have sent word of successful traversal of avalanche field. Now moving on suspicion that reindeer might have been swept to bottom of mountain.  0950. To continue excelling and exceeding further avenues of research must be devised and pursued.   There are still people here, packing their belongings and preparing dozens of coffins for transport. A young engineer approaches us. The young engineer, who introduced herself as Effie MacLachlan, is relieved to see us. "I'm glad you came. We are to be evacuated, but you just can't be sure in these times," she says. No smoke or other signs of activity. Foraging team has located and is now en route to collapsed mine believed to belong to Site 120.  Newly arrived labourers are assigned to locations such as fishing harbour, sawmill and docks, in numbers sufficient to run double shifts.  0539. Large influx of new crew may portend future instability and possible personnel issues. A vote will be held to smooth the transition. Our employers have been beneficent enough to approve the Abolition of Privileges proposal, contingent on our vote. They've made a few minor modifications to the original request, of course, to be more in line with official doctrine, just like we all agreed on!   Our work must be completed on time. Sometimes this requires sacrificing everything in the name of efficiency. Strategically placed loudspeakers will remind our employees of the importance of their work and increase their motivation. Other options they've sent for us to look at are Selfless Sacrifice, so that those of us who volunteer to put it all on the line for the job will be recognized, and Propaganda, to remind our friends old and new alike what it is they are working towards every day! These generators, even if you really fill 'em up, are saving fewer than one percent of Liverpudlians (and I think we know which one percent). That's the best case scenario, which has already gone to pot with the failure of one generator. So all this talk about us being the last hope of Liverpool is just denial presented with a stiff upper lip. There is no hope for Liverpool as we know it -- for any city. The apocalypse is coming and it's not going to be a cozy one. The iceberg looms.

There's a card you get when you create Child Shelters where one of the workers is like "Back home only the wealthy didn't have to send their kids out to work every day." Also I don't think you could possibly get the kind of no-breaks-emergency-shift labor you need if all the workers and engineers were a bunch of soft rich Englishmen and women.

We managed to put it out before it spread, but this is bound to happen again if we do not improve the work safety. People shuffle through the mist, the falling snow muffling their voices and turning them pale like ghosts. Someone curses under their breath: "This is the last thing we needed! Now, onto other matters - our employers have not yet seen fit to make more options available to us for this upcoming election, but fear not! We still have many options available to us!  We can still vote for Bare-Knuckle Bouts, Overcrowding or Extra Rations for the Ill...  ...Dispensary, Selfless Sacrifice, Propaganda, and People's Militia.
