Lookin at you, Yellowstone. Not signing up for Peacock or Paramount+ if you’re gonna change which one it’s gonna be on depending on how long ago it aired

Paramount sold Yellowstone to Peacock before the first episode ever aired.

Yep. Paramount wasn't sure about it being a hit so while the show airs on Paramount Network, it streams on Peacock.

6.6 million viewers to start, most recent premiere had 8.8 million viewers. That’s gotta hurt whoever sold it to peacock.

yeah Plex sounds familiar. I've found a few others that seem to cover anything I'd want to watch. I don't care about downloading anything vs. streaming from the sites. Is there any benefit to downloading a file? Like flixhq.to has pretty much everything I searched for for a few minutes. I assume I'd need a VPN either way but that's easy.

It's really unbelievable how bad it's gotten. It's also annoying when one of them decides to change their pricing ALL of them do. I got a notification Netflix was raising their price and then within a day or two, a few others announced the same. I'm just done with it all.

If you're able to find the stuff you're looking for free via streaming then nope, no real reason to store the file, but if you're going this route:

You're going to have to store them just based on how the infrastructure works.

I gotta be honest, I'm pretty excited about this christmas. I've never had my own tree or decorated my own place mostly because I've been in apartments or condos but also because I've not really been with someone on Christmas. I always go somewhere else. Historically Christmas growing up had also been pretty rough for me for various reason. Now that I have a house and my gf lives with me, I wanna go all out with a christmas tree and decorations outside. Gonna Griswold this bitch up

The NWSL just got a new broadcasting deal, previously they were pretty exclusive to CBS which worked for me since I already had Paramount Plus for Star Trek, about 90% of the matches were there, the other 10% were CBS Sports Network which I’m absolutely not paying for so I just missed those. That deal was 3 years for $4.5 million, new one is 4 years for $240 million, so I totally get it, go get that bag ladies, it’s great for the sport and for the league, but also next year matches will be split across like 4 different and unrelated streaming services? Absolute bullshit, I used to watch almost every match per year, not happening any more.

That seems like a short sighted move. No one but the absolute die hard fans, which are very few for the NWSL, are going to sign up for four different streaming services. That’s a league that needs eyeballs more than a little extra cash, IMO. I get why they’d take the money, but if it kills interest, it’s bad for the league.

Anyone have any games they find incredibly overhyped? At the expo, we played a game of Mario Party 2 and 3 with my son, and holy crap is that series just bad. I could swear I remember it being more fun twenty years ago. We played the “lite” 20 turn version and it took almost an hour or so to play and I was amazed by how boring it was. Random items, mini games that are button mashing or just pure luck, etc. I enjoyed the time with Braks and my boy but the Mario Party series is just not fun.

Welcome to Mario Party!

Also I think Super Metroid controls and sounds like poo poo. I really like the genre on the whole but SM just feels bad to play. Can't understand people who still hold it up in 2023 beyond nostalgia.

Mario Party is definitely too long, 10 rounds max. I never played the early versions, just the wii ones, and those are the same problem. After four or five rounds, I’m ready to be done with it.

I disagree about the sound, but yeah, the controls haven't aged well. Wall jumping sucks rear end, especially

For me it's Mortal Kombat and it's not close. The series has always looked awful in motion, I have zero clue how the new games sell as well as they do. Even aside from the awful gameplay it's really nasty gore porn that involved giving the devs PTSD by looking at snuff videos for realism.

It always amazes me how flawlessly and consistently SM speed runners can wall jump. I almost gave up on the game where you have to do it to get out of a pit. Kept eating my input or something and just fell back down over and over again.

Taste in music is subjective but I never understood why they made everything sound so muffled. It felt like I had towels over the speakers when I played it, especially compared to its contemporaries on the system.

The DKC games had similar compression problems as well, I think a couple of youtube channels went out of their way to recreate the tracks with the original synthesizers and they sound so, so much clearer.

I never played it until I was in my late 20s (so I don't have any nostalgic attention to it from my childhood), and I thought it help up super well for being something 30 years old. I'm a massive mark for metroidvanias though, so I guess my opinion could be taken with a grain of salt.

Yeah, the same guy did the Super Metroid soundtrack too, and it sounds loving rad.

Other than wall-jumping being completely awful and Samus feeling a bit floaty, I think Super Metroid holds up extremely well.

I don't mind the combat in modern MK; haven't been able to try MK1 yet, but I had enough fun with MKX/MK11. It's extremely mid compared to other fighting games, though.

Ed Boon is very committed to the animation style, and I don't know why. He says it's photo-realistic, but cmon man no it's not
