I've had it for at least half a decade. I got the emblem as part of a charity drive - give to XYZ cause and show a receipt, and get a different plat emblem.

Not super common, but it still happens from time to time. Last month, one of those charity drives resulted in a bunch of goons getting Halloween-themed emblems, so you might see some pumpkins and bats.

Or, like Khizan's you're just in the right place at the right time.

Oh yeah, it's been a big improvement, especially the skill trees, or at least the parts that work as advertised.

I still don't like the way the map waiting lobby is set up. Vets should be displayed with their ranged weapon rather than melee. If I'm playing a vet, I don't care what another vet uses for melee, but I'd like to know what they're rocking for ranged so I can adjust my loadout accordingly. Like, if I could see someone else already has a Kantrael XII, I'd switch to plasma or braced autogun or whatever.

At this point in the game's lifecycle, if there is a QoL issue, mods fix it.

I know that's not the answer some of you are looking for, but it does exist.

On your specific issue, there's a mod that lists the weapons every player is bringing in the lobby screen, and then also displays their talent tree when you hit tab, if you so desire.

Mods make this game playable/fun.

That's fair, and I might go down that path because party balance becomes more relevant for Damnation and seems to be more critical for Auric.

Does lights out only pop up for auric missions? I tend to look for it on the mission board because it's such a cool modifier, but I've never seen it pop up out of the early days pre dog Christmas.

FYI the new map won't appear in rotation until "1-2 hours after the patch."

Lots of other notes to pore over. Vet over-toughness shout reduced to 50. I think it'll still be fine since they didn't touch the cooldown at all. Assail re-charge every 3s up from 2s. Surge Empowered Psionics fixed. No mention of the Exhilarating Takedown making you take increased toughness damage bug.

Added more pickups and chest locations to Ascension Riser 31, Chasm Station HL 16-11, Chasm Logistratum, Smelter Complex HL 17-36, and Enclavum Baross.
Lowered health stations charges on non-event health stations on higher difficulties.
Removed one health crate and one ammo cache from the pickup pool while raising the amount of big ammo packs spawned.
Tweaked how pickups are distributed throughout missions.

Will have to see how all these play out.

Reduced explosion damage on Monstrosities.

Would like to know by how much. I throw a lot of kraks and spam adhesive rumbler grenades on monstros. Monstrosities have felt almost trivial if they show up without a horde on Damnation so it's probably fine. This wouldn't stop them from getting deleted by a Shroud T-Hammer either.

Long Range Assassin and Camouflage are exclusive of each other.

Personally I'm not interested in any of these proposed playstyles. Weapons Specialist could be useful as a set it and forget it option, but it takes too many points to get to. Iron Will and Demolition Team are both huge picks since I am typically at high toughness and I enjoy using damage boosted krak grenades. This puts me far down the middle of the tree and I absolutely do not want to play Focus Target since I am constantly looking for tags so I can shoot them with my plasma. Can't wait to see perma-crouch walking vets thanks to Camouflage.

They did move a lot of things around on the vet tree which does lead to a minor nerf in the colomnus vet playstyle.

Some nodes that used to be deep in the tree are much earlier, but superiority complex is now super deep on the left tree which hurts.

Sharkopath
May 27, 2009

On further testing nevermind, Focus Target with Redirect fire feels like a damage boost if anything even with the loss of superiority complex, cool update. You way more reliably kill almost every target in a single damage tick. We can kill maulers in one tick now too, sick.

There was some hemming and hawing about how often vets would be holding off on using their mark enemy, but all 5 stacks comes back so fast theres no reason not to use it on anything at anytime. By the time an enemy respawns in the testing ground you have 4 stacks again already.

They also added the QoL feature I was griping about earlier today, the ability to view other players' loadouts in the lobby.

And fixed a bunch of penances.

Would be nice if they could fix the weird toughness glitch in Exhilarating Takedown where the talent is supposed to provide a toughness buff on kills, but actually causes players to take increased toughness damage. Maybe next patch.

As it should have been honestly; it was very awkward to have 2 of the 3 possible toughness generation talents stuck ~2/3rds of the way down the tree when every other class can get any of theirs 2 to 4 points right out the gate with no other investment.

They also stuck all the grenade talents next to each other which is nice if you wanna go for a grenadier build.

Sharkopath

I think plasma shouty build got a huge buff for what its worth in terms of placement of skills on the tree, you can grab all the toughness regen skills way easier in a build now while still having all your other tools.

The loss of superiority complex and nerf to overall shout healing hurts a bit but I think the boost to team toughness regen is worth it.

I feel like my old vet build is fine. Just did the new mission and I had a good team but I defnitely pulled my weight. Janky cut and paste incoming:

Only thing I lost from the old layout was Bring it Down! I figured I could just chuck a krak at most ogryns and monstrosities still take plenty of damage from juiced up kraks. Tried out trading Demolition Stockpile (1 grenade every 60s) for the buffed Twinned Blast (20% chance for extra nade on throw). Not sure if it actually mattered but I never felt like I was low on nades whenever hard targets showed up thanks to Demolition Team. Melee crit and bleed makes my shovel feel great during hordes. Plasma kills whatever I shoot at.

The new mission is a lot of fun, felt like I was playing Hi Intensity even though it was normal Damnation. Probably going to wipe a lot of teams until everyone figures out the best places to stand during holdouts.

Anecdotally from testing in the Psykaniu, Bring it Down seems like a it's gonna be a cool keystone that's a lot easier to use than it looks on paper. Giving teamwide damage bonuses and toughness regen seems really nice

The spotting one at least is straight forward:shrug:

The Plasma special action is Vent Heat. Vent Heat when used vents 20% of your *current* % heat per tick and deals some damage to you, which is first absorbed by toughness. If you have no toughness for some reason, it hurts your health.

It's best to vent at high heat, as each tick of venting is more valuable than at low heat. You will never explode your plasma game if you only normal shot, your character will auto-vent if you try to fire a normal shot at 100% heat. Plasma only explodes if you fire a charged shot at 100%.

edit: tbc I don't know the exact amount of toughness damage it deals and tbh it doesn't really matter, with Confirmed Kill which you should be running you'll just get back that toughness instantly anyway.

It's straightforward, but it's oriented towards "I'm tagging something I can immediately focus fire on and kill with no delay", which is great for marksman veterans but not so great for the Columnus or anything else relatively short range. I can see a lot of wasted buffs in the near future.

I'll have to see it in action, it just looks like it's going to have problems for me.

Just go with focus target and the augment that gives the whole team 10 seconds of boosted damage. You can keep it up permanently by just tagging all the time. Really no downsides at all.

25% toughness and stamina regen whenever your team kills the target is also a great node.

It feels like half the time I have no idea what a talent does until I actually play.

I don't play vet so my zealot example is Blazing Piety vs Martyrdom. Martyrdom is a fun as hell blender build that's straightforward. When I tried blazing Piety it felt super weak until I switched to a Columnus which could activate Blazing Piety in one clip.

I got surprised when it activated when I was testing the revolver against the Crusher in the Meat Grinder. On like the fifth or sixth reload it proc'd.

After using it for awhile I feel like Blazing Piety is a very fun and competitive playstyle, but I needed Goon guidance to get there
