ok i was scrolling slowly and for a moment my brain registered the top half of that gif as goatse adjacent helped by the skin tone hue to the right of the "anus" and i thought i was in the wrong (right) thread for a moment and please dont search for my post history for "goatse" yes i do think SA will be returned to its former glory one day and yes it will be because of goatse and yes i will be taking questions

When i took microbiology in the 90s, we used mouth pipettes. No harmful bacteria were used, and you drat well keep an eye on what you'r e doing when sucking up a suspension of E. coli. No incidents in that class, because eww.

Nobody has ever had to pipette by mouth, it's always been a terrible idea done for speed or precision or laziness.

When I was taught pipetting techniques ages and ages ago, the class's natural reaction of disgust at being told to put their mouth anywhere near a suspension of an E. coli culture was enough to dissuade us from doing anything of the sort.
