If people could just learn to play the objective on investigation missions thst would be great. Had an ogryn player last night who was a magnet for trappers and kept getting very mad whenever he ran off alone and was caught. Meanwhile I was the only person doing auspex scanning because everyone else thought getting nabbed by trappers and plague hounds was more fun.

If your pubbing Hi Intensity damnation is gamble every time. Thread, in a rare moment I am going to retract a previous statement. Knife is good on Zealot! ... but only if you're pairing it with Chorus to spam the song of the emperor to protect your teammates. Get that shroud field poo poo outta here. That said, I do feel way squishier personally and less able to defend myself solo vs mixed stuff. Ragers especially, though those are always a problem of course. Knife is also good with Chastise the Wicked. I get the obvious value of Chorus, but I go slightly insane if I have to tag a special and wait for someone else to kill it.

The number of times I got yanked into flamer fire by a trapper yesterday was amazingly high. drat game had it out for me. I've been enjoying playing Auric Damnation, but there are definitely times where I just have to laugh. The new Carnival map in particular seems especially brutal. Most groups seem to wipe at the first big open area below a second floor where you're waiting for the objective to complete. People need to be better about not splitting up and standing in sight-lines.

From in front of the medicae I try and shift between the drop spots for gunners and shotgunners as vet, which keeps me in sight of the entry-point where trappers and specials can spawn too. I dont get LoS to my blind left corner but can slide over when I notice tags. Its intense but fun!

Finally rolled a good purgatus staff and running it with crit & soulblaze talents + assail just for targeting specialists feels really good. I've been running shriek for extra fire but I might switch over to bubble to help the team.

I will not stand this knife slander any longer, the knife slices through hordes like hot butter and if you see a bad situation you can dip at the speed of light away or towards it and the heavies or special > light or shove attacks hit hard enough to 1 shot mutants. It is one of the absolute best weapons in the game and the latest patches have only buffed it, if your option is based on trying it a year ago give it a try again on a well rolled dagger with the proper blessings.

My opinion is based on trying it last night after really not liking it or the playstyle at all before the class overhaul. Turns out I just needed Chorus and the ability to reduce cooldowns via crit to like it! It does fine killing things, but I stand by the fact I could manage an entire horde lines by myself for half the effort with an Evi, TH or Heavy Sword and be much safer vs big targets due to having way more stagger damage on my hits. Knife kills things one at a time very effectively and rapidly but it sure ain't gonna be keeping the rest cc'd on the ground while doing it. I'm certainly inexperienced enough with the weapon that I can't weave heavy attacks in as well when dealing with Ragers or anything larger, but the three or so missions really don't change my feelings on feeling much squishier if you actually get hit. The key phrase here is "get hit" because certainly you are much better at dodging around. That said, as a Zealot you should be holding a line for your less melee focused teammates cause you're just better at melee than half the classes and knife doesn't do that quite as well as the aforementioned weapons imo. And fwiw I certainly still have bias against knife zealots because of pubbies and a few goons who are just not good at using it. I acknowledge that, which is why I picked it up to give it another try. And I like it! I'll keep using it and having fun and refining my opinion on it as I get better with it. 1h chainsword is a good compromise. Fast enough to get lots of crits and keep your Chorus CD low, but with enough cleave (with the right blessings) to chew through hordes when you need to. Also you can chainsaw muties and ragers with it. e: I love the knife but it's definitely a "because it's fun" weapon rather than a "because it's strong" one

The second example did have a clear crit. I see your floating numbers adding up to about 3,600 and 4,000 on the Reaper so I believe you that's Damnation. I believe the game may have erred in some way and hidden a critical from us in your last 2 shots. Your bolter should have dealt 545 * 1.25 (vs carapace) * 1.25 (anoint) * .4+X (armor modifier) damage per bolt, where X ranges from 0 to .4 as Shattering is applied. However your last pair reads 1682 when it should have been only 1362 and the readout likely should have been higher but the critter didn't have that much HP left to lose. As for how you tested it over and over pre patch, well...hell if I know. I agree it's not likely you simply didn't spot a crit or headshot every single time. But I would equally swear that pre-patch I did tests that required vs carapace, vs elite, Shattering 4, Pinning 4, and Anoint all together.  probably.

Right click to change the icon or delete one

For Zealot I really like the revolver. If I'm playing Zealot and I need to take out my ranged weapon, I want the thing I'm pointing at to be as dead as possible as fast as possible and for me to be back to my melee weapon as quickly as possible.

So you get like 1.5k crits per round so you get buffs from those crit talents constantly
