Veering into politics, but I feel like the federal government should step in and force the state of Virginia to change its official motto from "Sic Semper Tyrannis" to something a bit less "Lincoln had it coming."

Edit: I just remembered they're a commonwealth and not a state, the smug fuckers

I thought diddle refers to fingering, not necessarily rape. People diddle themselves all the time.

its definitionally impossible to create a "cinnamon roll" with other spices, because then it's a "(other spices) roll"

But “cinnamon roll” conveys much more information than just the presence of cinnamon. You could have a thyme cinnamon roll, for example. Which would be a cinnamon roll made with thyme instead of cinnamon.

Herbs are leafy greens that grow in your back yard, spices are precious commodities they used to fight wars over.

Herbs are the leaves and green parts. Spices are ground up seeds and bark, anything that's hard.

Dried herbs lose most of their flavour, that's why the capitalists had to find a spice they can transport from very far away and get paid insane amounts by the King and other rich people.

*rich people had nothing better to do then either except prove to each other how rich they are, like still is

Which is yet another reason that it's disappointing when people under flavor their cooking because our ancestors killed a whole lot of people over these spices and we are directly pissing on their graves by not using them.

Mile's comics were awful. It wasn't until the Spiderverse movies that he got good material.

Spiderman just isn't that interesting of a character, like even compared to other comic book characters. I guess name recognition is so important that when Peter Parker got stale they had to invent a different "Spiderman".

Gimme Jean Grey or Wanda Maximoff instead. Which the movies have tried to do but so far have ultimately failed at in different ways. Wandavision was a gem though.

Multigenerational households are so much better than the western dream of a one-family private home

Being crammed together in a small apartment in Astana sounds worse than having a fancy USA apartment but hell no. Everyone loves each other, breakfast and dinner are Events. It reminds me oh right, we are a social species.

My niece gets to play with my babies, I pay rent by doing sous-chef and basic cleaning duties instead of some landlord bullshit, five different people are down for babysitting if me and my wife wanna go out, it’s just so good

Despite the many goons claiming otherwise, Peter Parker Spider-Man continues to vastly outsell Miles Morales Spider-Man which is irrefutable proof of one thing: America prefers white male protagonists.

I think John Oliver and his silly bird campaign resulting in one bird getting like 100x more votes than any other is kind of amusing and entertaining, but it's really indicative of how easy it is to use huge amounts of money to manipulate things.

Or it's indicative that like 80% of people don't have opinions of their own and just jump on whatever bandwagon is passing by.

I really feel bad for the people to whom this was important. It wasn't to me; I never heard of the Bird of the Century thing. But just imagine, you're looking forward to this, you spend all this money and time and effort, and then here comes an HBO feature that wants to do a thing and you know at that moment that this entire competition is a wash, it's just not really going to be a thing this year, but you still gotta pretend it is, still got to do it.

Yes as someone who regularly does follow NZ Bird of the Year it pissed me off. Other species had like, schoolchildren or local businesses sponsoring/leading the campaigns and here's loving JO and HBO loving it up for everyone. Imagine being like 12 and all happy to campaign for the korora (little penguin, very cute and very endangered) and then everyone gets plowed over by some American TV guy joke meme.

He should stick to doing stunts on actually negative things like medical debt markets and stuff. The silver lining is hopefully they got more donations, but he's still pulled a "Gavin Newsom steamrolling a Chinese child on the b-ball court" with this.
