The general discussion and knowledge of these “lost” Beatles songs are like 35+ years old at this point, so they have been talked about to death within the respective communities over and over.

They hired a man to be the Taylor Swift reporter. It’s so on the nose. Like at least if you’re gonna hire a fan to just write all the stories about her can’t you get a woman to do it given most of Swift’s fanbase is women and Swift is a woman

He also has bad taste in music so that’s just a fun bonus

It's a piece of JUNK!
Enjoying the remixed Beatles Red & Blue so far. I'm on the early songs and they really do have a lot more live band energy than the old stereo mixes. "Please Please Me" sounds better than ever, as I don't think that one was on any other compilations that got remixed. And I'm also starting to get to some B-side material like "This Boy" which is also a treat.

I think YouTube Music might have gotten the wrong mix of "She Loves You" though, it sounds noticeably worse than all the other songs and even its own remix on 1+!

EDIT: Haha yes, they fixed the "EvolTUtion" splice on "Revolution". They've done that on most alternative mixes (i.e. LOVE) but I was hoping they'd be willing to do it on this "official" version as well. It's just always sounded so bad. Overall they have not shied away from letting stuff sound imperfect and grimy (even some of the previously remixed songs from 1+ have gotten a slightly less "bright" treatment here). But I'm fine with them correcting distracting edits. (They also did this in 2017 with "She's Leaving Home" where there was always a very slightly noticeable gap in the string part between the chorus and the verse; as heard in the instrumental takes, there was originally a standard-length full measure in there, but they chopped it out because it sounded cooler. But that did leave a slight artifact.)

"Tell that to Zod's snapped neck!"

Grammy nominations are out! Album of the Year has Lana, Taylor, boygenius, Olivia, Miley, SZA, Jon Batiste, and Janelle Monaé. Victoria Monet for nominated for a bunch of things including Record of the Year, Dan Nigro got a nomination for producer of the year because of his work with Olivia as well as Chappell Roan and Caroline Polachek. And as always, the “best new artist” category is hilarious:

Gracie Abrams (debut single released in 2019)
Fred again.. (debut as “Fred again..” in 2019, has been producing since 2014)
Ice Spice (started releasing music in 2021, blew up in 2022)
Jelly Roll (first label music released in 2011, self-published before that starting in 2004)
Coco Jones (Disney Channel artist from 2012-14, released indie albums sporadically until signing with a major in 2022)
Noah Kahan (released debut in 2017)
Victoria Monét (released debut in 2014, songwriting since 2010)
The War And Treaty (debut released in 2017)

I love Janelle Monáe but TBH it's crazy not to have Caroline Polachek in the spot this year.

I also like Jon Batiste but it's becoming comical at this point how he gets nominated for every award. He and H.E.R. basically exist only at award shows

Hell yeah. I've got the Ticketmaster link for her show here bookmarked and I keep checking it, but it always says "Sorry, tickets are not currently available online." Does that mean they're sold out? It says American Express Early Access was 51 days ago and artist registration onsale was 50 days ago.

I'm probably out of luck, huh? :smith:

I’m making my list of best music for the year and am realizing that I kinda haven’t paid attention to albums as much because so many I listen to once and think “well this would be better if it was just the singles”, are there any really good pop albums that might have gone under the radar?

I’m starting off with salem ilese who unfortunately got ignored by everyone because she releases her rock-inflected debut album a week after GUTS soaked up every bit of attention. She’s like a way too online Olivia who loves punny-rear end choruses but PainHub is one of my favorite songs of the year so it was worth a listen to see if it could meet that and honestly, pretty good stuff.

Edit: and Sigrid out here proving my point by releasing an absolutely stacked 4-song EP this year after releasing a too-long album last year
