It's 2006. I am taking 276 yeti furs from the goodies hoard.
Gotta say even if he doesn't take off, Kurtrus is a great concept. Hand disruption that cares about the stats of the minions in your opponent's hand & still has some impact even if it doesn't discard anything is up there with clever digital-only card game effects.

I think the concept of the card is fun for sure, I just think balance wise he's tuned for a meta where people's decks are mostly spells and a few high impact minions and right now it's really the other way around between Dragon Druid, Paladins, Excavate decks, Naga DH, Cleave Hunter, etc.

Deck actually feels very fun and powerful, Battlepickaxe is an excellent damage clock especially if you get a buff or two from Weapons Expert or two on it. Blast Tortoise is insane and easily the most powerful card for matchups like Dragon Druid. Paladin definitely gives this deck trouble, since lots of small high attack divine shield minions is basically the hard counter to the deck, but it's felt good in pretty much all the other matchups. Even control priest isn't as bad as I thought it would be as long as you get your weapon swinging early

Also how the hell to complete "Wanted: Kingpin Pud" without having the card? It says "or rush minions" but hasn't been counting mine

My deck's sick combo is showdown / prismatic beam, they synergize so well

Druid’s matchup into Paladin is comically bad — like 20/80 — and there’s a lot of Paladins running around right now. Keep an eye on it in the event Pally gets nerfed, though.

I don't "get" highlander shaman. Like, I'm playing it and winning games but I don't know what is really going on with the deck. It seems like a disjointed collection of cards that are just good by themselves, kind of like a pure paladin deck.

Doctor Holli'dae seems really good in a way I can't place. Is it just the stats, having a decent weapon, and the taunts? The value over time?

I feel like I struggle to get a lot of use from Golganneth. Or even Doomhammer.

Feels like a lot of time I'm just countering what the opponent does and "finding" a way to victory as opposed to developing my own plan.

Here's the deck from HSReplay but idk if there's a better version of this list:

Most highlander decks tend to play like that - it's just a bunch of genuinely strong cards with a lot of value. You're using your tools to just outlast and grind down your opponent.

World War Mammories
Aug 25, 2006

yeah, that's how it works. you sacrifice consistency but you compensate by making a pile of good cards and benefit from the super busted highlander payoffs. that holli'dae is good is practically self-explanatory - however delayed the payoff is, that weapon still represents 45/45 in taunted stats

just a couple wins away from 500 with rainbow dk, using the vicious syndicate list. not super great, been floating around mid-tier legend, but very fun. tried to get a deathrattle version to work, using boneshredders and death growl - for those unaware, pile of bones' "the next time you excavate, summon this" deathrattle literally means "this" and will resummon whatever the deathrattle was on, not another pile of bones. but it was very bad and I suspect it would remain bad even if made by someone who knew what they were doing. oh well

Recently got back in to the game since playing after launch, if I am only planning on playing Standard format, can I safely disenchant all my Naxxramas legendary cards? I see that a lot of Legacy cards are standard legal, is that because they have been "reprinted" in more recent sets?

Every year, Blizzard updates the Core Set and gives a free copy of that set to everyone for the duration of the year. If you disenchant a card that’s in the Core Set and they later take it out, you’ll lose both versions.

Disenchanting your old cards is a decision only you can make. If you’re absolutely certain you’ll only play Standard and/or collection-agnostic formats like Arena or Battlegrounds, it’s free dust. But if you think that at any point you might be interested in Wild, Twist, or Duels, you might as well hang on to them, as it’ll be expensive to get them back if you later change your mind about it.

Scrub-Niggurath
Nov 27, 2007

All that being said you can safely disenchant Maexxna, Kel'Thuzad, Feugen, and Stalagg since those cards are no longer relevant

Rivendare is also pretty much just a meme card but Loatheb still sees some use impressively
