Then he turned and disappeared in the swirling snow.

I didn't include the wee. I also only have the hogfather in audio form, so I may have misspelled "wee".

This made me try to reproduce one of the best christmas cards ever created on this site:

That's a little better:

I tried a less descriptive prompt, but included gary busey's teeth. Gary Busey's teeth are not present :(
A christmas card with a couple of rough-housing yetis who are outside. The yetis have the teeth of gary busey and very flat noses

I think I'm gonna spend the rest of my points today on weird christmas cards.

This one wasn't supposed to include any monsters?

That kitten must be passed out from too much nog, since I definitely didn't ask for any dead cats either.

We only did the menorah part in my household growing up, and I haven't paid attention to if gefilte fish is eaten at Hannukah since I've grown up.

I wonder how SUNO is training its models, and how it might be implementing or scraping pre-existing music for its samples, because I just generated a song that sounded like it was sampling from a song I'm very familiar with.

This is the song I generated (not very notable insofar as comedic or artistic value in this thread is concerned, and I wouldn't be posting it here otherwise):

https://cdn1.suno.ai/92903e5b-c992-49bf-a08e-9700badb6c05_0.mp4

But the first few beats seemed like they were pulled and remixed directly from a song called "Petty Thug" by one of my top two favourite Belgian stoner rock bands of all time: Millionaire.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3t8bipD4mBQ

Listen to just the first few seconds of each back to back and tell me you don't notice an eerie similarity. The relationship between the snare-kick, kick, snare-kick, and the guitar/bass parts playing the same notes at an interval of an octave apart with only some slight phase colouration to differentiate between them is striking. This Millionaire song always struck me as very tonally unique, so to hear that tone popping up out of loving nowhere from an AI song generator has me scratching my chin. With visual styles it's a lot easier to tell what a model has been trained on, but unless one has a very keen ear and a huge breadth of musical knowledge, the same kind of ability to discern aural cues when presented them in this form SHOULD be very unlikely to most, unless they pop out like a sore thumb to the one person who would ever happen to hear that sample played back to them. But it's also one of those scenarios where someone in my position would be statistically most likely to shrug it off and say "What are the chances?" because, let's be honest, what ARE the chances?

And as an aside, what are we calling the portions of tracks that end up mixed into songs like this that are created in this manner? "Sampling" is already well defined in musical terminology, and while I feel compelled to call any part of a pre-existing song that is used in any remixed manner a "sample," it doesn't quite do justice the kind of paradigm shattering sidestep this kind of music creation is capable of setting in motion that is wholly unrelated to that previously well defined use of that word.

:words: I'm speaking as someone with a music major in a gbs thread for comp sci geeks primarily posting visual images so I don't expect any real kind of dialogue here about this, but I had to get this out.

Wow I've forgotten about this band since after 2010 I thought they were never going to create anything after Paradisiac.

I suspect Suno is training on copyrighted music, but I guess their argument is that nobody would ever be able to tell what exactly is in an ai model right?

I've been really excited for music ai, but it has been moving a lot slower than visual ai because visual artists' work isn't owned by giant litigious companies. There have been reports of some discords working on open source ai music being sabotaged, which sounds about right for the likes of the RIAA.

What we need is a Napster, only 20 years later it isn't about pirating music but building and training datasets on your favorite music

After a while I never expected anything new from them either, but they've put out two great albums since 2017.

How hard would it be with a $10 Spotify account to use that to train song models? It's basically the same thing that Napster was, except arguably more comprehensive, easier to use, and more or less universally standardized as far as audio quality is concerned. Even if they're trawling a source like Spotify at a low-end bitrate of 128kbps, it sounds like suno is kind of grabbing lower bitrate sources anyway with how unintelligible and incomprehensible about 1/3rd of its song output seems to default to, but I'm just guessing there. There's also a lot of residual hum and what sometimes sounds like record static that tends to crop up in its output, which I pick up on as the kind of thing people would tend not to notice as important, but it's there more often than not.

Neat!

I'd guess its sounds kinda bitcrushed because they probably used lowest bitrate possible for the training. Sort of like how SD was trained on a huge set of smaller 512 images, reducing the amount of information to the lowest possible would make training faster. So it would make sense if they are just feeding it as many loops as possible that the output created from low bit audio ends up that way.

Offensive Clock
Might not just be the training step, but also the creation step. It's probably creating something like mp3-ish data, with info about frequencies in short time slices, instead of generating the waveform sample by sample. And that causes the "low bitrate mp3" sound.

So we just need another AI that cleans up low bitrate MP3s to go on top of this.

Yeah this is my wholly-intuited and not-at-all-scientific guess about how this is working. It kind of has the feel of back when AI images were at the stage of "this is obviously someone's filthy dirty room, but I cannot identify a single item in this photo if you held a gun to my head," except they've JUST gotten over the hump of being able to generate intelligible cum-stained socks and leftover roast chicken covered in hair from being left out too long. And you know what that means? That means it's almost ready for prime-time!!

In related news I paid for a month of this poo poo so you better believe I'm abusing the gently caress out of it until they either ban me or until my subscription runs out. But holy poo poo this thing makes me laugh hard when it hits.

Dude, ix-nay on the oice-vay.
This post is all Pratchett, all the time.
I have no life, but I do have Pratchett books and wanna play with Dall-e

goddamnit it took forever to find a prompt that Dall-E would accept. Any way, the best I could do since Dall-e has problems with the word "stitches" but is apparently cool putting an unasked for healing cleft-lip with no stitches. Again, I didn't ask for this. I also put a barbed wire tattoo in place of the stitches the book describes.

I also specified no facial hair, and this is the only picture without a beard.

Here are the others with that batch since, even though it doesn't include it in the book, Pratchett's Igors could probably install a beard on their faces flawlessly if they wanted to.

"Look, I never thaid I didn't like it..."

Dalle also REALLY wants to make Igor not button up his coat and be shirtless. All of my attempts at a description of chubby turned into obese. Wonder what "sexy igor" would make. I mean, it would certainly be the monster and not Igor.
Also, referencing igor from "Frankenstein", "The Modern Prometheus", or any of the multiple other titles a/the book, or any movie related to it or even by stating Marty Friedman from "Young Frankenstein" still brings up the monster and not Igor.

another batch where I put "completely clean shaven" right up front.

I think that first one would have been pretty good if Dall-E didn't want facial hair so much.
The last one is too pretty, but might have been decent if Dall-E didn't decide that a patch was necessary for a mismatched eye.

I feel like the last one on this would actually work for a hollywood version of Igor androgyny. (Credit me for your band's new name, please.) (I don't think that works for the name of a sextape.) I also like that Dall-E gave that one extra fingers, which is absolutely common to Igors on the Disc.

A lot of times, the results are pretty decent references, regardless of how much it ignores pieces of the prompts. I am not good enough to paint anything resembling an old oil painting, but I know we have multiple goons here who are this good...they probably don't need a bunch of references because they are loving awesome.
