Yeah I never personally use the zealot charge for the mobility, it's usually just an extra damage/toughness button to use in emergencies.

The recently buffed “Stripped Down” blessing for autoguns can also be very useful. You remain completely immune to ranged attacks while sprinting above 50% stamina (at rank 4). This allows you to close in against an unlimited number of shooters/gunners/snipers without burning any resources. And immunity affects the enemy AI, causing them to either be quick to engage you in melee (good) or ignore you and shoot at your allies, presenting an easy backstab target (better).

I went with a crit build because the crusher is fairly fast and has really good cleave, and in practice I've got pretty good uptime on my ult. Not as good as a dagger or eviscerator with the Shred blessing obviously but it's remarkably competitive nonetheless.

The extra stamina/stamina regen on curios is for block attack spam (which is pretty strong with the crusher), but if you find yourself never running out then you can drop that in favor for more health or whatever you fancy. Also since it's a rather talent-point intensive build you kinda have to choose between Enduring Faith (toughness damage resistance) and Thy Wrath be Swift (never get stunned). Enduring Faith is great if you get caught off-guard by a surprise Rager horde, while Thy Wrath is always good.
edit: Come to think of it, you can also go with throwing daggers which would save you a couple points, though personally I find that they overlap too much with the revolver. You could go for a different ranged weapon in that case though.

As far as blessings go, Skullcrusher is a no-brainer and adds a lot of extra damage right after you've landed a charged special hit. (Against an enemy Crusher with shove attacks to the head it goes from like 600 to 1000+ damage IIRC) Thunderstrike is just what I happened to roll, and it seems to do the job well enough since I've got no problems smacking around Rager squads.

Consider swapping unremitting and sainted gunslinger for shield of contempt and hammer of faith, shield of contempt is the #1 strongest zealot passive for you and your team and 30% more impact with a crusher won't hurt, if reload sucks on the revolver consider slapping speedloader on it if you can for +50%.
Could also get rid of thy wrath be swift and optional chorus buff passive to slot in 50% tdr on crit and 20% cdr on back kills for more chorus with pious cut-throat and enduring faith, the optional chorus buffs aren't really worth the point because your team is already immortal and cutting it's cooldown by 20% after assisting a teammate with a poxwalker ain't bad.


On another note I feel like the charge is zealot's 3rd best ability, chorus makes your team immortal for a good long while and presses pause on any conflict, giving your team plenty of time to recover and chop through any major dangers while invulnerable and +100 toughness to tank gunners and stealth is the ultimate clutch ability being able to revive teammates in peace and easily recover from a last man standing situation.

I think somebody either in here or in the discord said that somebody spamming chorus or shield is doing more work than the twitchiest MLG veteran possibly could, and I now see why that is.

Veteran and Psyker also have reduced toughness damage while sliding but it's 50%.

I've tested the err... impact of the various extra impact/stagger talents but as far as I can tell it doesn't help the crusher all that much, probably because it already has more than enough base impact (+ the blessing) to knock down Ragers and Maulers anyway.

That was the reason why I went with Sainted Gunslinger because I figured you "waste" a point anyway and I always like having extra reload speed. Good point on Shield of Contempt though, it's probably way more impactful than the reload speed bonus since it's probably not very common that you reload from 0 to 5 on the revolver as you should always try to stay topped off.

I've already commented about Thy Wrath Be Swith vs Enduring Faith, and for the most part I find Thy Wrath to be more useful, though of course with the extra opportunity cost to get it. I haven't considered dropping that and the extra damage bonus on Chorus for the backstab talent though, but getting extra ult uptime for that trade sounds like a great idea.

Normally if I'm the only player left, at least 2 of the other players who are downed will drop. Half of my last 4 damnation runs ended with a different team from when they started.

Now that I've gotten my volley fire penance dine I've swapped over to a Shout veteran and the bottom right capstone talent. You can fire off some supremely nasty plasma shots after doing a bit of melee horde clearing.

It's kind of lovely that people drop so quickly. And I guess it's nice to have a bot save the day, but also feels janky. People will always quit for sure, but I do also think making it so it's not faster to quit out than it is to make it through the end of game scene/checkout would be nice.

Same thing happens in apex legends, team game where the pubbies will insta-quit back to menu the nano second they go down and can't shoot the gun no more even if they would of been okay if they waited 5 seconds for their team to save them, I swear those types of players spend more time looking at menu's then actually playing the game in the end and it seems weird to go 15+ minutes through with a team to almost the very end and then quitting with the finish line in sight.

Well, I mean you do get a bot to replace them and for a certain segment of the game's population weighted heavily toward the type of person who insta-quits that is a huge improvement.

So, quick question. Just started today...tried all the classes (got them up at least a few levels) before settling on the Zealot. Hit Rank 12 and I tend to completely avoid range and just rush in with either a Chain Sword or the Crusher but I am realizing I never do heavy attacks. I just dodge and quick attack nonstop.

Is that like...a bad habit as a Zealot? Should I be mixing in more heavy attacks?

So the important thing to know about heavy vs fast attacks is that they are just tools and a lot of tools don't make sense on lower difficulty just because of enemy density. The heavy attack on the eviscerator is a wide sweep for instance, but the second heavy attack in the sequence is a chop, so you might chain a heavy into a light into a heavy to give yourself more space. Weapons have light chains, heavy chains, push-attacks and some have alt-fire attacks. Learning when to use which is critical for reaching the skill ceiling but you'll get there naturally.


Also heavy attacks usually deal more damage and against carapace you pretty much have to heavy attack.

If you're just kind of spamming fast attack that ca kind of get you killed later. Maybe. If you're dodging and blocking and not taking much damage you're probably okay for now.

When gearing up early on in Vermintide, is it better to keep a lower power level trinket with good bonuses than a trinket with nothing on it? I'm not entirely clear on the significance of item power.

In VT2 hero power affects damage and stagger. The exact bonuses on trinkets (and weapons, frankly) are not nearly as important as grinding the hero power treadmill when leveling.

So after trying out the revised crusher build (thanks to Ra Ra Rasputin) the +30% impact strength talent is actually really really good because it allows you to interrupt Rager combos with just a light attack to the head! This also means that you don't need any extra stamina curios, since you only need to spam the shove-attack on Ogryn Crushers.

Specifically you need any of the crusher's Relentless attacks, which are represented by the split-arrow symbol on the crusher's info screen:

As you can see the crusher has a whole load of them in its attack chains, but you have to avoid doing a Strikedown attack which while more lethal doesn't have nearly as much impact.

So with that talent with just a light attack -> heavy attack -> repeat pattern you can stunlock a whole bunch of Ragers forever, even if they're mid-combo. Alternatively if there's just one of them you can light attack him out of his combo and then do repeated strikedowns to finish him off quickly.

Be careful that you don't hit them in the arms though, with some attack animations they raise them up which covers their face.

edit: Testing it some more in the Psykhanium, without +30% impact you can only interrupt Rager combos with a heavy relentless attack to the head or the special charged attack. With the talent however not only can you do it with a light instead but against the flak armored variant you can even interrupt them with a heavy relentless attack to the body which completely trivializes them. The maniac variant still requires a weakspot hit strangely enough, but after a single stagger you can smack them around all the same.

I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for the Ogryn Shovel but I'm all aboard team slap now. Specifically using the Bully Club mk IIIb for easy heavy cleave spam.

I know it's not meta but the brainburst perk for psykers that kinda works like that where all your attacks have a chance to brain burst enemies is also fun. I once accidentally melted a nurgle beast when my flame staff procced it (edit: couldnt have been in a row due to 15s cooldown so now I'm confused what the hell happened then)

Handy when a rager/mauler etc just stops being a problem suddenly

I miss the glory days of the totally op power sword but I knuckled down and made the newer mk vi model with t3 brutal momentum and slaughterer and it seems pretty good. It's very fun to charge a light swing and take the heads off of every horde mob in front of you. Wish I could get power cycles on it but just don't have access yet, going to keep an eye on melks.

When I was making a gorgonum for my ogryn it took all month to finally cycle In a gun that had t4 charmed reload, and this week melk put two of them in the shop.

Crafting dumb.

Genuinely instead of minmaxing blessings I'm happy just taking a 360+ base roll, taking it to orange and fixing whatever I can on it, without bothering to try over and over again to get a perfect weapon with max blessings. Too many annoying variables.

A helbore with surgical, ammo aura and the lasgun perk just never runs out of ammo. An entire damnation carnival and I only dropped below 90 percent once, never touched an ammo pickup. poo poo rules.

Just wish the sights weren't so bad. I used to use the weapon customization mod but he feature creeped that into running like rear end.

I dunno I'm using the most recent(or at least most recent as of about a week ago) version and I'm not noticing any performance impact from using it, though I should probably turn off the setting that causes weapons from the store to be randomized since while it results in cool looking weapons it also sometimes has weird results that can impact gameplay
