to be fair, they already made a movie where King Arthur is a bungling idiot and it's one of the most revered comedy movies of all time

but they should give him the biopic treatment

It really is hilarious how Napoleon still turns them into frothing sore winners who rant about what a monster he was. We need Mel Gibson to make a Napoleon movie so the Brits are justly depicted as wormy little freaks.

I’m not talking about something intentional, I’m wondering if like, do a higher percentage of movie and tv writers have divorced parents than the general population or something. You saw a similar thing back in the 90’s/00’s with all these protagonists who were divorced and lost custody. Actually now that I think about it that makes a lot of sense. The people who wrote about their divorces in the 90’s are the same parents writers are currently complaining about.
Its because fiction is dramatic and a more difficulty homelike produces drama essier.

The first movie I saw him in was Mysterious Skin which was an impressive movie and demonstrated his acting chops, but it was so dark and depressing it broke the image I had of him as Tommy.

Every movie I saw with him makes me think he's a great actor. I always expected him to have a bigger career.

The director had a trilogy of dark teen/young adult vignettes which impart a feeling of hollowness after viewing. UFOs and abuse appear in each. To the point that I think they must be semi-autobiographical.

By the end of the film, we have: Asha wishing on a star which become the literal star that is wished on in Pinocchio. King Magnifico appears to become the magic mirror from Snow White (in addition to Asha’s friends being modeled after the seven dwarves). There are Tangled, Pocahontas, Bambi and Peter Pan cameos or references. There are strong indications that Asha will eventually become the wish-granting fairy godmother.
