The Guilty, on Netflix, is good. Jake Gyllenhaal is a 911 operator with anger problems who has to marshal LA's useless police forces to save a kidnapped lady while the city is on fire.

One of the better ones they've added. We're probably seeing more because they're cheaper to make, not because of a trend in storytelling.

e You shouldn't watch Legion, on Netflix, but Kevin Durand is going to play Elon Musk in a movie eventually and he knows it.

Also some of that was just luck along with the media boosting it. It made me think to check on The Mean One, which was the same concept except for The Grinch, and Wikipedia says that it only got $600,000 at the box office.

But yeah I assume we're going to get more "dark" edgy children's stuff unless more of it flops.

I’m pretty sure this dumb thing is what pushed Terrifier 3 to be set in Christmas. David Howard Thornton doing Christmas murder shanagins is too good to waste on a slasher film that uses cgi gore

I’ve watched all 4 episodes released so far and it starts out as a pretty standard “Agatha Christie” style murder mystery but there are some reveals in the third episode that could take it off the rails. Some of the dialog is kind of cringy, you could make a drinking game out of taking a shot every time a character exclaims “It’s a hack?!”, but so far I have been enjoying it.

Yeah I ended up binging it today. I like it for the most part but like I posted in the couch chat thread it looks like they're going the "AI has become self aware and is killing people by hacking electronics like the pacemaker and protection suit". I really hope I'm wrong because I'm so over evil AI

I think it's pretty clever just for taking what seems like it's possibly a standard agatha christie style plot but making it feel pretty fresh in how it's told by incorporating elements like the internet true crime fan element, her writing a book, and all the hacking which somehow makes the idea of Darby being an amateur detective not seem at all trite even though that's a staple of the genre

Probably most of these elements have been done in other shows but the combination seems potentially better than the sum of its parts depending on how the rest of the show goes.

Also it seems to have some of the most realistic hacking of any tv show I've seen, although it's not 100% perfect (it kind of feels like they hired someone to work out the details, and that person explained it to them, so what's actually supposed to be happening makes sense, but when they writers went to write the dialog it was ever so slightly off)

Also yeah season 2 of the OA was crazy in a great way
