Even without SpaceX's track record and Elon's recent meltdowns, that would be loving terrifying. Is there a recording of the shockwave hitting them or are the SpaceX rockets too small to have one?

Yeah, that thing got blasted with lasers, soaked in isopropyl alcohol and then spent 5 hours in an oven during the seasoning process. Any germs that were still alive after that would've laughed off soap and water.

Kith posted:did you know that the air can have a voltage Hard to tell for sure, but those transformers look to be single phase, which means that may be a 765kV yard (possibly a 500 kV, but I am not so sure about those). You can get a florescent lightbulb to light up in your hands in those yards due to the magnitude of the EM fields given off by that equipment. Having been inside a couple of different voltage level substations, the size and spacing of the 765 kV equipment is just mind boggling.

treating soap and water like some kind of magic cleaning ritual, to the point of mocking someone for not doing it after vaporizing the exterior of the object, is... not a defensible thought process. I am a lot more concerned about your understanding of what soap and water actually does than I am about that guy's pan. If you pulled a pan out of a dumpster and told me you'd washed it with soap and water, I would 100% refuse to eat anything you cooked with it. I wouldn't believe you'd actually cleaned it, just cast the soapnwater spell at it for ten seconds. ComradePyro fucked around with this message at 13:43 on Dec 3, 2023 |

Oh don't get me wrong I'd 100% refuse to eat out of the dumpster pan as well. Soap and water *is* a cleaning ritual. People are very particular about the ritual around which they take their food, this should not be the slightest bit surprising. I don't think it's at all unreasonable to insist that some vessel I intend to eat out of be cleaned with soap and water. I insist on it for the same reason that I'm not going to eat chocolate that someone has formed into a photorealistic replica of a turd, and for the same reason I insisted my in-laws not talk about gross medical stuff at the dinner table. I know full well the chocolate is not filled with E. coli; I just don't want to have an eating experience where I have to expend effort to keep that revulsion at bay.

You know the metal that makes up your pan comes from the earth, right? In the process it's being made it's exposed to much nastier conditions/chemicals than a dumpster would see on an average week, and there's not much soap involved in that process either.
