Gummy Bear Heaven ... It's where I go when the world is too mean.
Train hit a pedestrian in my home town.
https://abc7chicago.com/metra-milwaukee-west-train-schedule-franklin-park/14133860/

They recently announced that the trains will not have to sound their horns in the area, hope this wasn't because of that (lotta homes in the area that would listen to trains beeping through a half dozen crossings all day long).

quote:

With this Quiet Zone designation, train engineers will no longer be legally required to sound their horns. However, if the train engineer perceives a threat on or near the tracks, such as seeing a car, pedestrian, or an animal on the tracks, they can still blow the horn. Also, an engineer can sound their horn when passing another train, if a train is stopped on the tracks, or if a passenger train is picking up passengers. In addition, an engineer may sound their horn in the railyard located west of Mannheim Road.

I think the fibre people at work also do it bare handed. The issue is the glass is so fine it passes through any glove material. So the loss of dexterity is not worth it since they offer essentially no protection.

Woah! Well that's something I've learned.

Looks like Corning recommend against gloves as well:

"Gloves or finger cots may prevent such damage, but also limit the ability to detect damage using tactile senses."

It looks like some sort of mooncake - I once picked up a lotus paste cake that was only 180g, and 10x10x5cm, but almost 800 calories, so that thing could easily be a full day's worth per pie. Good thing you're only supposed to have them once a year!
