I liked using the executioner sword, 2-handed hammer, 1h axe, dual axes, dual daggers, dual swords, and other weapons that didn't use combos in Vermintide 2.

I'm just bad at video games and have hand and wrist RSI that I'd rather not aggravate. So far I've found the mk1 devil claw and mk 3 cleaver are dumb enough for me.

The Rashad combat axe has spammable horizontal swipes for horde clear and general killing, and the heavies are all downward chops for when you want to chop through armor. Great for Zealot or Veteran, especially with the Brutal Momentum blessing that lets you lop multiple heads per swing.

I find it a little awkward, the heavies are diagonals so their head-chopping and cleaving value isn't as good as power sword / devil's claw / new knife / etc, and the lodging on light attacks occasionally gets you into trouble with multiple dregs around.

that's even with the buffs from this latest update right? dang, between that and the new chainaxe apparently not hitting quite hard enough im bummed about the weapon type still seemingly looking underpowered

If the light attacks didn’t get stuck in every enemy - poxwalker up to Nurgle beast - then the original chainaxe would be a perfectly fine weapon. But an extra half second delay on every attack is incredibly annoying.

Thank you for the info. I mostly play veteran and ogryn, with a little psyker. Hearing that the new eviscerator plays like the executioner sword means I'll probably start up a zealot, though. I also liked the starter shovel while leveling up but somehow completely forgot about it. Heavies seemed good vs crowds with lights being decent single target.

I just dislike it when an attack chain goes from relentless cleave attacks to a single target headbonk while spamming heavies or lights. Because I'm bad. Halberd was obviously really good in 2 but I'd eventually mess up the combo and get killed by a stormvermin that wouldn't have been a problem with a simpler weapon.

For Vet, mk4 devils claw is pretty foolproof if you just want to mash LMB for cleaving hordes, and heavies for occasional beefier stuff. Ogryn's Brunt's Basher is similar, LMB for knocking small stuff around, Heavies for bonking single target beefcakes. Ogryn shield with a bleed build is probably about the simplest you can get really, you can get away with just spamming heavies and block/push attack on literally every target.

I've taken it for a spin on a couple HISTG missions and I think I like it? With both Headtaker 3 and Slaughterer 3 active its heavies did a decent enough job cleaving through crowds, and the light attacks were amazing for stunlocking multiple Crushers while doing pretty good carapace damage to boot. (although you might need the Zealot's +20% impact talent for the stunlocking)

I gotta say, the updates they've done to the game over the past month has really ignited an addiction in me for this game in a way that I struggled to play this game before, really excellent work by fatshark and they've done massive improvements to the gameplay, the storytelling and voice acting.

my only big want for the game is the option to switch voices so I can hear other peoples dialogue without re-leveling.

I like that the two new Carnival maps include mission control split between multiple characters. Adds a bit of flavor and levity.

I played through the Warrens map earlier today with Hadron as mission control, and another techpriest named Kayex who's there to provide some additional assistance. Kayex is monotone and completely divorced from any concern for organics. Hadron, on the other hand, is downright friendly and well-adjusted by comparison. She spends the mission alternating between her usual "Don't gently caress this up, varlets" demeanor when addressing the players, and "Don't criticize my strike team, it's not their fault the heretics are full of surprises" when addressing the other techpriest. And telling him not to be rude to us by speaking in technobabble.

Between that and her propensity for telling jokes, the other techpriests probably think she's an overly emotional weirdo who spends too much time with humans.

It's been there the entire time since it was released, you probably just didn't pick it for the entire stretch (or if you mash quickplay just never landed it). It's never been disabled or removed from rotation.

Fun fact I heard: the Engiseer is apparently part of Ship Mistress's retinue, not Grendyl's. Which is why Hadron isn't as familiar with them and only knows them by reputation.

I took my chain axe out for a spin last night and its kinda hard to tell where the zealot’s talents, the weapons blessings, and the weapons attributes begin and end. Very clutch when going toe to toe with tougher enemies.

I changed my ranged weapon to help with horde clear and discovered the braced gun just kind of annoys snipers.

Yeah, that's basically the Achilles Heel for the braced guns. Super fun to use and great for crowd control, but I almost inevitably gravitate back toward something semi-auto so I can delete snipers at any range

Heavy (opening hit only) -> block attack -> light attack -> block attack -> light attack repeating

is very solid for horde clear even with maulers/ragers in the mix because of the frequent block pushes and only horizontal attacks that all hit quite hard and rarely get stuck, can make you come out unscathed from some crazy situations if you also move well and dodge when necessary

the further i got in difficulty the less happy i was with braced autos, which is kind of a shame. you really need that accuracy for distant targets, and the stronger shooting from the braced autos becomes less potent due to increasing enemy HP

Not even sure how to go about explaining everything now tbh, there's a lot of information now.

also two cents on OG chain axe: it's really good now on Zealot. The chain weapon changes mean your camera is no longer weirdly dragged towards targets you're sawwing and unrevved lights don't feel as weirdly sticky. On top of that, unrevved lights now stun ragers until slightly after the attack animation finishes so you can just 1v1 any rager now with three lightning fast light attacks on zealot. Heavy revved attacks can easily be set up to oneshot anything but monsters, and the heavy spam feels a lot better at killing hordes.

Unrevved lights also one shot dreg bruisers on headshot now, ironically might prefer Unarmored perk so you can one shot both bruiser types. Def give it a recommend.

With the Zealot's +30% impact talent you can even stunlock multiple Crushers to death with its light attacks as long as you keep target switching, which is amazing for all those patrols the game loves to spawn lately. Overall I think I like it more than the new eviscerator lol

Yeah, the OG chainaxe is beastly now on zealot. Really satisfying to use. Depending on the situation you don't even need to bother with revving the special attack, you can do incredible work just with spamming lights. Slap on the blessings that ramp up power on hit or kill and become an engine of destruction.

What are people running on the original chainaxe for blessings? headtaker/slaughterer/thunderer for raw damage or slotting in bloodletter for instant 16 bleed?

Evil Kit

the chainaxe i rock is Slaughterer+Bloodthirsty, bloodthirsty lets you chain rev kills on elites and oneshot crushers.

Thrust+Headtaker is probably the ideal imo, Thrust so you can always oneshot crushers and manage hordes well and headtaker for dealing with the stuff you use light attacks on. It's a pretty flexible weapon blessing wise now imo.

I'm undecided on perks, i can swap both on my chainaxe and I'll give some combos a try. With +Flak you can one shot dreg bruisers using regular lights which feels pretty good.

As the above said, bloodletter + bloodthirsty are both pretty legit, but honestly even without bloodthirsty, basically all of the blessings for chainaxe have a use case minus maybe thunderous since it doesn't really seem like it has a problem chewing up armor. Thrust would probably be the other high recommended to give you the biggest meanest revved heavies.

From playtesting a lot of zealot weapons lately I would say my two favorites right now are the crusher and dagger, crusher with hammerblow stacked up will knock down ragers on a light tap and open up bulwarks and crushers on special action hits and regularly sends everything up to crushers knocked down on the ground and easy to pick off for the team.
And dagger because it just kills absolutely everything while you are too fast to get caught by anything and close the distance with gunners instantly.
