That really should be universal imo. As it stands right now in quick play it doesn't matter who grabs or delivers the box to the bank, it only matters who caps it within the last 20 seconds. That's two of the three stages of the mode made irrelevant with a bonus feature of being the first to cap the box in the third stage meaning you'll likely die and need to end up re-capping it back anyways.

i think quickplay is supposed to be a heavily simplified version of the main mode and in order to maintain that feeling the devs keep it at 2 cashouts = win

I also dont think theres OT in quickplay for a similar reason. In the main mode, they will give you partial money if your team holds the objective when the round ends before the cashout can happen, which can put you over the edge to make it to the next round

makes sense to me. Just like in real sports, you gotta make it all the way to the goal to get on the board. I think it would suck if teams got partial credit for holding the objective before it was fully cashed out by someone else

This game is fun from a gunplay aspect but it does commit a cardinal sin for an objective based shooter where it takes a long time for an objective phase to be completed but full credit goes to whoever is holding the objective at that time. So if you have an objective that takes 3 minutes to fill then it's functionally 30 seconds of actual objective based combat and 2:30 of loving around.

I said the same thing to my friend I was playing with tonight. Being the first one there is basically a death sentence, although there have been a number of situations where after we wiped the other two teams kept trading kills at the point and weren't able to take it from us before we got back.

The destruction in this is really impressive, it's kind of crazy how much the map can change based on how hosed up the building gets.

If you have some defensive tools it's possible to fort up hard enough to gain a huge defensive advantage. All you have to do is be hard enough to attack that the other teams dick each other over

You also don't need to defend the box itself so long as you can reach it in a pinch.

Defensive strats only work sometimes, due to destructability and glitch grenades. Protip: Every light player should use glitch grenades.

:eng101: aiming pro-tip: in a close-mid strafe duel, when both of you move toward the same direction, you have to track them by not moving the mouse

if you try to match the same strafe direction as the opponent intentionally, it is easier to hit more shots on them [but also easier for them to hit you]. even if an enemy is not the same movespeed as you and not dueling you, strafing in their direction makes shots easier.

at farther distances, you just do the spray pattern when matching strafes

And I get wanting to have a more simple version for QP, the issue is that when being the first to slot in the box is often a death sentence you end up disincentivizing actually doing that. I was perplexed why my teammates kept avoiding the box, and even sometimes just chucking it on the ground, until I realized that they were using it to bait the other team to grab it, because they could then get an extra kill when the enemy's hands were full. Fishing for kills doesn't bring us any closer to winnning...but neither does slotting the box in, so the whole game slows down overall.

the incentive to being the one to slot the box is it's instant, and you don't have to sit completely vulnerable with a big flashing alarm going off over your head while you try to cap it

the pro strat is to initiate the cashout and then fall back, and then collapse back in on enemy teams as they try to cap it since one of their players will inevitably be laser focused on trying to steal

i think the gamemode fundamentally wouldn't work if you got points for just holding the cashout, the magic sauce to this game is even when you're losing it never feels hopeless, you're only ever one good play away from total victory

my experience has been if we get the box into the cashout and have some time to set up with extra walls, turrets, sonar grenades etc. we can get juuuust enough of a defensive advantage that it takes until the last 10 seconds to finally wipe us and steal the cashout

nothing better than busting out the floor under the box and seeing a full defensive setup reduced to nothing.

ScootsMcSkirt
Oct 29, 2013

the best setups ive seen so far are to place mines to slow ppl down and blow a hole in the wall so your team can camp a nearby rooftop and still have LOS to the box

camping the box itself is a bit of a trap since its so easy to break the floor

i also like using the goo gun heavy to completely box in the cashout box. A surprising amount of ppl dont have explosives to break through. You can also light the goo on fire to buy yourself a bit of time while it burns the whole area

the goo gun in general is really handy for the heavy. It forces teams to use their explosives to make an opening instead of shooting your team. The goo can also make handy ledges and bridges to help the heavy get to places they normally would have trouble reaching

Played a round where a someone was by themselves on their team and proceeded to shut out everyone else because they just waited until everyone else was dead and capped it at the last second.

Also, seems cheating is pretty big especially among CN players. I think I read they even region blocked China at the end of the beta? Cheating and a lack of community servers made me stop playing BFV and I hope it doesn’t happen with this game but being F2P

This game is a lot of fun. I've been playing Quickplay Cashout with two friends.

I think it should be 3 caps instead of 2, there is no room for comebacks with only 2 and the games are already so short that it shouldn't really matter.

Been playing mainly light, flying around with my grappling hook and shotgun.

anyone know what counts as carriable damage for the weekly? I assumed it was anything you pick up in the level but damage from a green gas canister didn't register, so I think it's just the red explosive tanks

TheDeadlyShoe

Dropping the cashout is great, but if you don't have a plan for after the drop then the defending team just shoots you to death from above with basically every advantage in the world. Literally asking to be chargeslammed off the cashout.

The APS tool can also make it real hard to drop cashouts, the anti-explosive effect goes through walls (and notably, floors). The radius is very small, but...

i think everything counts but it does seem very inconsistent, it took me ages to chip away at that one and i know for sure i got no credit a couple of matches where i should have

the thing that finally got me over the line was dropping a green canister on a team trying to steal a cashout and that got me 200 points right there

Quick cash: 3v3v3, one round. The only thing that matters is getting the final cashout. First team to get two cashouts wins.

Bank it: 3v3v3v3, one round. Eliminations grant tokens, killing a player will have them drop a token (worth $1k) in addition to any other tokens they were carrying. Once you have obtained some tokens you have to take them to a cashout to deposit them. First team to deposit $40k (I think) wins.

Unranked Tournament: 3v3v3v3, upwards of three rounds. Similar to quick cash, however you receive $1k for beginning to open a vault, $3k for delivering a vault to a cashout, then however much the vault is worth when the cashout finishes if you are in control of it. I believe vaults start as 10k, and then as t he round progresses get more valuable by 5k every new vault that appears. You do not get unlimited spawns in this mode, and can only spawn 2 times (+1 every new round) unless your whole team is wiped in which case your whole team may spawn for free after a significant time penalty in addition to losing 20% of your teams net worth. The final round of the tournament is a 3v3 round with rules that mimic quick cash with the exception of still having limited spawns (but no cash penalty on team wipe).

Ranked Tournament: 3v3v3v3, upwards of four rounds. The same as unranked tournment except there are more teams in the initial bracket leading to more rounds, and there is no swapping of equipment from reserve during a match.

comedyblissoption

there's some more detail on how the rounds work here:
https://www.thefinals.wiki/wiki/Cashout
https://www.thefinals.wiki/wiki/Bank-It

the tournament cashout mode is structured so that overtime cashout is almost always relevant for final placements, and if you're in 2nd place you really want to stop the overtime from triggering.

But yeah, I was also surprised that you could drop those hanging platforms with the cashout spot on it you sometimes get. Went from "okay just gotta hang tight for a bit" to "gently caress ME EVERYTHINGS BREAKING".
