If you dont find casinos fun thank your luck you dont have the traits that those things exploit the poo poo out of. I genuinely think pretty much any cash for random rewards game mechanic should be flat out banned.

real money poker is one thing cause like, its got Some amount of skill and you have to at least consider the presence of other human beings. circumstances change so you have to think. same with some other forms of gambling. im not a fan of most of them (at least as an actual industry, some dads betting beer money on poker night is who gives a poo poo) but i can imagine arguments in their defense. slots however should 100% be banned.

Exactly, and that's why a "benefit" or "bonus" of stock units that aren't immediately vested is, as I said, effectively a scam. (because the company can just lay off a ton of employees right before the deadline and not have to pay them any of it, and that's a bad thing. see: Bungie literally just doing this)

Much like an annual bonus, you can value it at a discount based on your perceived odds of actually getting it. For some companies you should trust it very little, for other companies it's rock solid.

No bets against the house is the bare minimum gambling restriction IMO. I'm not sure how I feel about bets between people, though I'm inclined to think it's not worth banning that sort of thing regardless, like prohibition. And if a casino wants to facilitate that by providing card tables and charging a fee/rake then fine. But any time you're handing money over to a business for a random return depending on an outcome they control, that is hosed up. Phigs fucked around with this message at 07:29 on Dec 11, 2023 |

I wouldn't personally mind learning the history of that bizzarre "trailer", it's about as old as old can be and even at the time I never really learned why it was made.

hopefully they quash the apple monopoly on their platform also because the iOS store has done godawful stuff too. there was an incident a few months back of apple's chinese branch manipulating female devs into sexual favors in exchange for getting them boosted to the top of the algorithm, and threatening them with burying them beneath garbage if they didnt comply.

Google also tried to claim that all of their internal emails about their plans to engage in anti-competitive practices were subject to attorney-client privilege because they had CC'd their legal team on them. This is, as it turns out, not how that works. They dug their own grave incredibly hard in a number of different ways.
