My point was I can understand why a lot of fans have a knee-jerk "Ugh the Dodgers are really getting away with one" reaction, but like most MLB competitive balance issues, it's not the 5 teams trying to win that are the problem, it's the 25 that aren't.

Like if you're below it you have to pay the players extra until you reach it The NFL has kind of a salary floor but it's an average over a number of years, not year to year I think it's either every four or five years where the average salary over that time needs to reach the floor, so you can be below it some years if you're above it by enough others and instead of having to pay extra IIRC you lose draft picks for violating it
