I’m not saying it’s the only financial instrument that’s like this or whatever, but the lack of connection between the coin and anything else like a company or a piece of land or whatever means that all the actual value you can get from bitcoin when you cash out is just money you got from someone else—someone who’s selling or buying at the wrong time, basically. The goal is to be better than other people at predicting this unpredictable market. So of course they always need new people to get into crypto and put their money into the system; that’s the only way anybody makes any money.

That genuinely sucks, as someone who’s been there and done that. If you don’t have another mental health support person, please make sure to keep in touch with your irl friends and family, okay? Not with goons, with people who care for you beyond the psuedoanon posting. And seriously, there’s no shame in hitting up a crisis line if you feel out of control while waiting for her to return. You’re going to get banned (soon, I imagine) because you violated the rules and the permanent requests to stay out. They’re because people don’t want you here. And look, mate, I realise the incredible impossible unlikelihood of you listening to me but in case there’s anyone else also feeling it - wouldn’t it be better for you to be around the people who care about you while you wait for your therapist, and not the ones who view you as a circus clown? Even if you think you’re somehow winning this and preaching truth to power, it’s the holidays. Take a break, use that rereg budget for holiday gifts instead of wasting your time with us broke bitches and make sure you have your therapist appointment booked for her return.

If bitcoin's endgame is to replace currency across the world, how does that fit in with the non-fixed nature of the rest of the world's resources? A return to scrips and bartering chickens for broccoli? Or would nations just invent their own internal currency and use that as legal tender, initially coupled to bitcoin and set free when that became inconvenient? Before the most stable and productive of those currencies became more lucrative for other countries to hold than bitcoin... Maybe we've been here before
