It makes plenty of sense. Ohtani just spent 6 years getting an up-close look at what incompetent ownership and front office leadership can do to a team. Clearly, he signed with the Dodgers in part because he trusts the people running the show to do a good job building a competitive team. If those people bail, he wants the option to jump ship as well, lest he get stuck with another Arte situation.
