On a related note, why is migrating from one android phone to another still so bad? Even Samsung to Samsung it's hit/miss what carries over, and heaven help you if you have to rely on cloud backups instead of a direct transfer.

It is? I moved from a Xiaomi to a Samsung within the last couple of years and had really no issues transferring across, although I did it directly rather than via cloud

Cloud transfers are unbearable. Either the backup is too old because you forgot to keep it up to date, or your network is too slow and it takes hours, or both.

Is that my cow?

No it isn't, but it still tramples my bloody lavender.

Yeah, I just went through it a week or two ago and other than minor quibbles, I don't find the process bad at all.

Now with less breakage.

Weird, we've both done it here within the last two years (samsung to samsung, samsung to pixel) and random apps lost all data, other ones just didn't transfer, and it was overall a lot of work just to be left with a lot of cleanup.

Oh well, if it has generally become better and we've just been randomly unlucky, that is still progress and I'll be less worried about the next time.

Yeah but it's only some of them so transfer is taking place. It's the worst of both worlds.

I was pleasantly surprised when my wifi networks/passwords and Bluetooth pairings transfered over. Super minor all things considered but it saved me asking friends for their passwords again the next time I went to their place.

Yeah, there are still good independent radio stations but pretty much any one owned by a conglomerate is either fully robotized or they broadcast the same DJ on like 100+ stations.

I found it amusing when Absolute Radio in the UK, which had their breakfast show across 7 or so stations with different music themes (various decades, Rock, whatever other things) and one day they had some technical problem which caused it to play all 7 parallel tracks at once on all the stations :D

No flip*, but you got itunes and some sweet mini?micro?-usb headphones.

That's reasonable. It's not exactly like that old motorola os was actively pleasant to use, it was just functional enough.

I feel like the only thing I remember about the actual itunes application was that it didn't have on-the-go playlists. Annoyingly enough, neither do i[whatever]s anymore. Those were a great feature and I dearly wish I knew where my old ipod photo (wow! it can do slideshows via AV cable!) got off to.

My Z Flip was a piece of poo poo loaded up with Samsung bloatware that started breaking along the crease after 5 months. Got a replacement, same thing.

However the Razr I got to replace it is absolutely wonderful. Everyone being persnickety and overly cautious about how the technology just isn't there is wrong. The Flip is just a bad phone, and bad phones can come in any shape and size.

The best part of the Razr is how completely it changes the dynamic of taking pictures with a phone that has been firmly in place since phones stopped being fun.

When you're taking a picture of someone with the rear camera, there's a screen on there and the person can see what their picture is gonna look at! You can fold it and put it on surfaces and take all kinds of kooky selfies. Stuff like that.

I loved my last feature phone, it was a Samsung phone that flipped both vertically and horizontally, good for calls and texting, but had E-ink buttons so the button labels changed depending on whether you were vertical or horizontal. N80 had WiFi. Had an awesome camera and the sliding keyboard gave me much joy.

WiFi wasn't even that popular back when this was released. How did they make decisions like this? Are there companies today releasing phones with personal satellite chips on the sly?

So, dumb question from someone who knows next to nothing about NFTs/Wallets/Blockchains... so how are these being stolen if the block chain is supposed to be the thingy that keeps track of ownership? The digital certificates are being moved from one wallet to another via an exploit without the original owner's consent. It's no different than somebody hacking your bank account and draining it, except there's no legal protections to redress your issue.
