Ospreay’s last RevPro match is confirmed for Feb 18th and it’s going to be Ospreay/Oku for the title in a rematch of one of the best matches in RevPro history.

Overall the show had decent matches, but the booking ended up being pretty quite depressing. The babyfaces won only two matches (out of 7, I think) and only one of those wins was a feel-good victory. The other babyface win had an abused heel tag team member finally turning on his partner, but then getting dick punched and eating the pin in the most unsatisfying way. It all could have been saved if the crowd's favorite SAN would have won the main event, but in the end the main heel stable successfully defended the tag titles, won the "money in the bank" and also grabbed the heavyweight championship, ugh.

man, this is one of those classic indie show fuckups - i mean, it happens in wrestling at any scale, but you feel it in an indie show because you're in a venue with like 50 to 300 other people (usually on the lower end of that scale). i pretty firmly believe that every indie show should either have a majority of faces winning, or at least have a main event that sends the crowd home happy. tv wrestling can get away with more because you'll have audience buy-in that there's a build to a payoff coming but when you're running once every two months or whatever to a crowd that probably majority is not gonna watch the shows unless they're there live, you really shouldn't book a main event angle like "bad guy heel stable runs wild!!" without, at minimum, all the faces in the locker room emptying out to beat em up to a satisfactory extent before the heels turn tail and run

It's like goldy or bronzy, but made of iron.

It's an extension of the old talking point about good heat and bad heat. Like, you can't end every show with a face victory, but you want the reaction to a heel winning (especially a heel cheating to win) to be "This is terrible, I really want to see the bad guys get their comeuppance", not "this is terrible, this will always be terrible, why do I bother watching?"

Amazed at what looks good and what doesn’t, like the shittiest looking shows I’ve been to this year are the ones that stream to fite dot tv.

The one yesterday with awesome stage lighting and incredible ringwork? might be on youtube in a month or so.

Small time promotion out of Sanford that doesn’t post videos and barely has an instagram account? loving incredible, here is a gift for you and your camera

National indie promotion (GCW) that employs a who’s who of unsigned talent? gently caress making this school gym look good in any way on camera, just use the overhead fluorescents and make sure to rent the ring canvas that has a hole in it covered in duct tape

Because I tend to go to the live shows, I’ve always been confused as to why people were always down on RevPro. They’re the biggest UK indie, they have a deal with NJPW and their homegrown roster is great. Then I tried to watch some of the VODs and I completely get it. There’s no excuse for a company as big as RevPro to have production that bad. Constant mic clipping, cameras which always seem to have smudges on them, dreadful audio balance. It’s a wonder they have any subs to their streaming service at all

It's not that kind of test.

I was going to ask why ADR isn't in jail, but I guess the charges were dropped for some no doubt legitimate reason.

quote:

Rodríguez was arrested on 9 May 2020, in San Antonio, Texas after allegedly battering and sexually assaulting his girlfriend. He was booked into the Bexar County jail and charged with one count of sexual assault and one count of assault causing bodily harm.[20][269][270][271] Rodríguez was later released on $50,000 bail at approximately 3:30 A.M. on 10 May.[272] On 9 October, Rodríguez was indicted by a grand jury and formally charged with aggravated kidnapping and sexual assault, two felonies.[273] Rodriguez's trial was delayed several times,[274] until the charges were ultimately dropped on 10 December 2021.[275]

There's money to be made by booking "politically incorrect" talent. I'm surprised no one has made that an explicit part of their promotion yet.

There really isn't. TNA signed as many discount cancelled guys as they could pre-pandemic and it didn't work, it doesn't work in XPW and it doesn't look like it was working in Circle 6 either.

The xpw/C6 poo poo makes me so mad. It sucks when people who pay lip service to progressive causes are okay with sharing a locker room with some of the worst scum in wrestling and it's very interesting that the "woke" promotion everyone in the scene complains about packed the heart ballroom last weekend when xpw is drawing single digits to the same building.
I'm only on the peripherary of the scene, I'm not in any of the Facebook groups and mostly keep to myself, and I get poo poo irl for not supporting xpw or c6 like I'm betraying deathmatch or that I'm a fake fan trying to destroy it with wokeness and I can't wrap my head around it
