The paramedic only “rounded up” the dose by eighteen percent, which is loving stupid and was done under an unsound rationale but wouldn’t have been fatal without also overestimating the guy’s weight. And yeah estimating a man who weighs one hundred and forty-three pounds as weighing two hundred is pretty inept, but it’s the kind of inept that carries no professional consequences. They can just be bad at estimating sometimes. It happens. It’s why you don’t shoot from the hip unless the patient dies if you don’t try. Going after the paramedic for bad dosing, while true, is giving cover to the far greater sin of administering any amount of ketamine on cop orders.

I’ve known a few emts in my time and some of them are pretty normal people doing a really stressful job but also some of them are lovely loving assholes who relentlessly mock the population they serve and never stop bitching about having to give care to poor people they deem unworthy I think the very end of my reading/posting over in dnd was during the Floyd protests when that conservative rear end in a top hat got shot and the cops chased off the street medic who was treating him and just stood around as he bled out in the street. A bunch of posters were arguing it’s good and proper that the cops chased off the street medic and that the professional emts just stood there and let the cops tell them to not treat him. lol. That’s their philosophy. Gotta stand up for the cops Emts, like fire fighters, might actually do real and good work unlike cops, but also like firefighters they are individually often so closely aligned to cops that they might as well just put in the uniforms
