"The entire history of this incarnation is one of temporal orbits, retcons, paradoxes, parallel time lines, reiterations, and divergences. How anyone can make head or tail of all this chaos, I don't know."

I can’t believe they’re already casting Miles Morales.

But also maybe.. Cyclops?

Don't forget they do occasionally have relatively big actors and then have them play like, higher ups at Shield or small roles like that, alien resistance leaders. Or Goldblum or Rockwell being named comic characters but they were just in one movie each respectively (admittedly none of them are quite at Ryan Gosling at his current level of popularity but still, they might not be lining him up for a multi movie thing).

I don’t think Disney would want to pay him on a multi-movie contract, and he probably wouldn’t want restrict his schedule.

At best a Bale-type villain role imo

Are they still trying to make the blip / post-blip make any drat sense? It just unravels every time you think about it for more than 2 seconds. Like the new Spider Man came out a few months after Endgame and it made zero fricken sense at all with the school and some kids blipped and others didn't.

Even ignoring things like "what about people who were in planes" and assuming Banner's magic wish could make those people OK there were about 2 billion children on the planet. 1 billion were left afterwards, and of those, for every one that had two parents, 25% lost both of their parents. That means there were 250 million brand new orphans. Imagine society actually bands together and helps that means 250 million new families where parents adopt and love their new children, perhaps even replacing their older children, and then the kids and parents and everyone comes back?!

Like how does society survive that second trauma nevermind the legal implications on inheritance and property transfers.

I think civilisation could survive the Blip, but there's no way it could survive everyone coming back.

I remember once of Stephen Jay Gould's old books from a million years ago. He wrote how a number of big extinction evens happened after species encountered a second big change in their ecosystems.

The first would stress them severely, but they would survive. But a second change, even a much more minor one, would push them over the edge to extinction.

I can understand that.

I was so disappointed in that movie. Great poster. Good cast. Waste of time.

It's a movie where if you couldn't work out how the entire plot of the movie was going to go by the 10 minute mark and what the big "twist" was going to be then you're probablythe kind of person who is shocked by a Scooby Doo reveal.

The entire plot is "Teens with powers are held in a vaguely scary place owned by shadowy people for unknown reasons, who orders one killed for no reason, but they escape using the power of true friendship." Seriously that's it. Coming from someone who once owned an entire run of the original New Mutants it was incredibly disappointing.

Also I was sorta skeeved out by the scene where thirteen year old Wolvesbane is nude in the showers for two minutes straight. I mean you don't see any naughtybits and the actress is way over 18, but it still felt weird.

I meant more the "Oh, there's a new mutant girl who doesn't know what her power is? And now monsters from our imagination are haunting and attacking us? Whatever could be causing it?" part.

But also, yes. The rest of it was very meh, too.

If you want to go down that route, The Frighteners poster is just a ripoff of Nightmare on Elm Street, which I assume was not a wholly original idea itself.

There wasn't really any reason for it to be Nebula, though. It could have been Rocket or Gamora or Yondu or anyone else from off-Earth and it wouldn't have impacted the story at all, and I think that's a bit of a letdown

The whole thing felt pretty soulless to me. I dunno, very by the numbers and an excuse to bring in some quippy characters to do MCU dialogue.

Granted, a noir story in under half an hour is a big ask, but I think ditching the comedic relief crew and sticking closer to the intended tone would have been miles better.

The worst part was cameo overload. Drax happens to be in the same place as all that for no reason and also Groots voice (but whelp on that)

It does seem to imply that Nova Prime is just waiting to betray everyone in every world, since the what if premise didn't change her at all

Thought the second episode was very good, probably one of my favorite of the show so far. The perfect kind of story hook for this series, as in some alternate world it would have been a crazy 1988 Avengers movie release and yet it still would have fit nicely into MCU continuity without any of the big stretches What If sometimes requires. I also continue to be surprised by the number of original actors they get back to do their roles.
