I think the show would recognise Krusty and Maclure know each other, they're both fading celebrities still in the game and probably know each other from some lovely b-movie they filmed together or meeting at a party in the Hollywood district of Springfield Given both are shameless hacks who'll perform in literally anything I'd be shocked if they'd been in less than a dozen things together, though they might not be able to agree on exactly what.

I'm sincerely having a little trouble parsing the "Chuck's Seed & Feed" angle. So the idea is that you're supposed to think it was Suck & gently caress, but it's actually not and your mind was making it dirtier than the actual store name? I guess I'm a little lost as to where the intervention comes in to correct the dirty version. Usually that sort of joke works like the Miss Susie rhyme, where the intervention is the punchline. Isn't that missing here? Or is the intervention meant to be that the sign acknowledges "Chuck" as the sole change, and you're meant to take it verbatim? Not mad. Just too tired and trying to understand stuff in the Simpsons thread.

What if Chuck’s was never a gently caress & Suck to begin with, but a mononymous business name with a much more innocent business model, like a diner, a mattress store, or an agricultural machinery parts depot? I mean, we don’t call it Wendy’s Hamburgers, we just say, “Hey, I’m going to Wendy’s. The sign reads Sneed's Feed and Seed, Formerly Chuck's. Now of course this Feed and Seed store was probably a Feed and Seed store before, but the rhyming pattern of Sneed's Feed and Seed makes you think Chuck's Suck and gently caress. So either the store was originally Chuck's Feed and Seed and the dirtiness is all in your head, or Chuck's gently caress and Suck for some reason became a Feed and Seed. Both jokes work, but one is definitely more subtle than the other.

Not to beat a thoroughly dead and desiccated horse, but my interpretation of that joke did not consider the suck & gently caress angle at all. To me it was poking fun at cutesy store names. Think "Todd's Odd's 'n' Ends (formerly Dave's)". Like, you'd think a store called Sneed's Feed & Seed would be a "cutesy" name, like someone thinking they're being really clever, and they put a lot of thought into it and got really excited about their cutesy name. But actually, it's not a cutesy, clever name. It's purely pragmatic. They just bought the store from Chuck. And It was called Chuck's Seed & Feed. Which is why they felt the need to connect the two - logically, if people went looking for Chuck's Seed & Feed but found Sneed's, they'd say, oh, this is the same store and Sneed bought it from Chuck. I'm in the right place, so I can continue with my purchases. Which, to me, make's perfect sense. It's a sensible thing for a store owner to do - let his customers know they're in the right place, but that there's been a change of management. I was surprised when I learned of the suck & gently caress interpretation. The idea of a place being called "Chuck's Suck & gently caress" is, first of all, a little hard to believe, even if it had been a brothel originally. But then, why feel the need to logically connect the two? Who needs to know that a farm supply store used to be a brothel? It's a joke, for sure, but honestly I just feel like it kinda cheapened the bit - at least to me, personally. I am painfully aware how people feel about it being an hilarious joke, under the suck & gently caress interpretation. But to me, it's just kinda...sophomoric. I guess since it's season 11 that makes sense, though. Again, I'm aware that this is the wrong interpretation, but, personally, I prefer it. I don't like low-brow humor as much as a lot of people, I like jokes that make you think. And, originally, the joke made me think. But apparently I overthought it. So yeah, I'm dumb AND a jerk to boot. So don't bother pointing it out.
